XAT 2019 Selection Procedure

Xavier Labour Research Institute(XLRI) will be conducting its common admission test, Xavier Aptitude Test on January 7, 2019. XAT is conducted for providing admissions to more than 600 B-Schools in India, including the very prestigious XLRI.

Apply for XAT 2019 at XAT Registration open till November 30.

Appearing for XAT (GMAT for foreign candidates) is the first step towards the admission process. Candidates clearing XAT Cutoff  then proceed to the subsequent selection rounds- Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Each XAT College follows its different selection procedure. For candidates making to the final merit list of XLRI, it is important to familiarize themselves with XAT Selection Procedure 2019 that is given below. Selected candidates will appear for XAT Counselling 2019. It will commence from February and conclude in April 2019.

XLRI Eligibility Criteria 2019

Candidates seeking admission in various courses of XLRI is advised to check eligibility conditions before applying. It is essential for the candidates to check the conditions set by the XLRI, Jamshedpur before applying for XAT 2019.

Here are the eligibility conditions to know the academic qualification and marks for applying and appearing for XAT 2019 Examination and Admission Process:

  • Candidates must have a recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline.
  • Candidates who are completing their final examination by June 10, 2019, may also apply.
  • All Indian candidates must appear for XAT 2019.
  • However, NRI and foreign candidates may apply through GMAT  (except Dubai and Kathmandu wherein candidates have the option of appearing for XAT 2019).
  • For PGDM(GM) course, candidates must have at least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  •  For PGDM(GMBA) course, preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.

XAT Cutoff 2019 for XLRI

XLRI will call candidates for GD-PI on the basis of their XAT Cutoff 2019. The minimum percentiles required in order to be considered for a XLRI call in the year 2014 is given below:

XAT Selection Procedure 2019 for XLRI 

Before taking part in XAT selection procedure, candidates have to apply clear XAT 2019. Candidates may apply for more than one programme. The last adte to register for XAT 2019 is November 20, 2018. Those who apply for multiple programmes may be called for multiple interviews and group discussions.

  • Fees for Indian candidates applying through XAT 2019 is INR 1650 and INR 300 each for every additional programme of XLRI
  • Fees for Foreign and NRI candidates applying through XAT 2019 is $50 and $25 each for every additional programme of XLRI

Stage 1 is XAT online test, based on the performance of candidates in XAT 2019. In stage 2, candidates will be shortlisted for the Stage 3 i.e. personal interview and/or Group Discussion.

Stage 1: XAT 2019

  • In the first stage, candidates have to appear for XAT that is scheduled for January 7, 2019 in online mode.
  • XAT Registration 2019 can be done between August 16 to November 30.
  • According to XLRI, XAT 2019 qualified candidates will be shortlisted after their performance in the online Examination and will be called for admissions.
  • XAT Results will be declared on January 30, 2019 (tentatively).
  • The question paper is divided into two parts. 72 Objective Multiple-choice questions from Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability are asked in the first part. Second part carries one essay writing and 25 questions on General Knowledge. The duration of the paper is 205 minutes.

On the basis of their performance in XAT 2019, candidates will be shortlisted for pre-admission rounds. Only those candidates who will perform exceptionally well in XAT 2019 are shortlisted for the Stage 2. It comprises of Personal Interview (PI) and/or Group Discussion (depends on the course).

Stage 2: Personal Interview and Group Discussion

The Personal Interviews and/or Group Discussion for candidates through XAT will be conducted between mid-February and March 2019 in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur only.

Group Discussion

  • In Group Discussions, candidates are divided into a group of 8-10 participants. Group is given a topic to discuss among themselves for 20-30 minute. In Group Discussion, committee normally checks for leadership qualities, confidence, content and delivery. It’s a process to screen the Aspirants’ potential as well as their skills.
  • GD is held only for candidates who have applied for PGDM in HRM, GMBA, and regular PGDM course.

Personal Interview

  • It is designed to assess Aspirants’ confidence, thought clarity, interpersonal and soft skills. Personal Interview duration depends totally on Aspirants.
  • The purpose of conducting a personal interview is to explore the responses of the Aspirant, his/her interpersonal and soft skills, confidence and thought clarity to gather more and deeper information/understanding about the Aspirant.
  • For overseas candidates of General Management Programme, Interviews can be conducted over G-talk/Skype in online mode via the Internet. Such candidates will have to get in touch with the admissions office for scheduling the interview online after XAT 2019 Result.

Stage 3: Final Selection

XLRI evaluates the overall performance of candidates and prepares the final list of the selected candidates. These candidates are offered seats in the management programmes for which they have applied in the Xavier Labour Research Institute(XLRI) – Xavier School of Management. In addition to XAT and GDPI performance, XLRI may factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience, extra-curricular activities etc. while preparing the final list.

A candidate is selected on the basis of his rank in XAT Merit List. This list is uploaded on XAT Official Website. The list is made on the below parameters:
