**WBJEE 2018** is expected to be scheduled in offline mode for March 2018. The notification followed by invitation of applications at wbjeeb.nic.in will commence from December 2017. The application window will stay live at wbjeeb.nic.in till first week of February 2018. Let’s take a quick look at the syllabus and important topics of each section of WBJEE exam.

Physics is unanimously considered as the stream of science related to attributes and properties of matter and energy. The core ideology of physics includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. WBJEEB expects candidates to have acquired basic understanding of Physics as subject before applying for the exam.

Here is a detailed look at the WBJEE 2018 Syllabus for Physics. It is expected that the section will be merged with chemistry and will be asked as single section in WBJEE

A strategy to approach the exam is of utmost importance. For WBJEE 2018, candidates are advised to begin their preparation right away. Since Physics is one of the sections asked in the exam, it would be suggested to students to pay proper attention to the topics asked in the exam according to their priority as mentioned in the table above.

Following are few experts’ idea about preparing for WBJEE Physics:

**Wall Posters of formulae:**Physics is one of subjects that involves a lot of hefty calculations in addition to a lot of formulae. Remembering the important formulae would surely help the candidates reduce their time involved for each question by a tenth.**Handbook:**Handbook is a pocket size note book that comprises all the important points, formulae, units, constants related to the subject.**Practice Papers:**Solving practice papers regularly keeping in mind all the rules and regulations including time limit involved in the exam would surely prepare you for the exam day.

Chemistry is considered to be the branch of science that unravels matter and its composition including the investigation of their properties and reactions. It also studies the use of such reactions to form new substances. Like physics, candidates appearing for WBJEE 2018 are expected to have basic understanding of Chemistry at secondary level.

As a study, chemistry helps disintegrating every aspect of everything there is in the universe and understand how it was created from a single unit or entity.

Take a quick look at the topics to help understand the section a little better for WBJEE 2018

Most Important | Less Important | Topics with less importance |
---|---|---|

Periodic Table | Inorganic Chemistry | Dalton’s Atomic Theory |

Chemical Kinetics | Alkanes,Alkenes,Alkynes | Atomic Mass |

Molar Chemistry | SN1 and SN2 Reactions | Avagadro’s Hypothesis |

Like Physics, candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for the subject. Since Chemistry involves a lot of equations and theorems and principles, it is advisable to the candidates to have better understanding of the concepts of Chemistry and everything that it comprises of.

**Organic Chemistry:**Organic Chemistry is often considered as a subject of its own. The area of application of Organic Chemistry is growing with days. It would be advisable to the students to prepare a plan for the section and prepare accordingly. Keep in mind that your plan should include practice questions and mock papers.**Inorganic Chemistry:**Inorganic chemistry is relatively easy as compared to other two sections, organic chemistry and physics chemistry. The section deals with subject matter and their properties standalone and when made in contact with other matter**Physical Chemistry:**The section of Physical Chemistry comprises topics that involves calculations and a lot of formulae. Keep a handbook and solve as many questions as possible.

Mathematics is considered as a branch of science related to number, quantity, Space and matter. Mathematics is the most important aspect involved in engineering studies.

Apart from being the most important, mathematics is also one of the toughest sections to be asked in the exam of WBJEE 2018. Understanding its syllabus and picking out your favorite topic to prepare would be best

Mathematics is undoubtedly fear of most of the students appearing for the exam. Here’s are some tips related to the exam that would help you reduce the stress and pressure put upon by Mathematics and related topics:

- Trigonometry Formulae: It is very important to remember and understand all the trigonometry formulae by heat. In addition to remembering it, you must also understand how it came to be starting from the theories universally known.
- Practice Papers: The only key to excel at any exam or a test such as
**WBJEE 2018**is to practice. Pick up any MCQ book and make it your habit to practice till the day of exam.

WBJEE 2018 will be conducted for a total of 200 marks. Physics and Chemistry, each hold a weightage of 40 questions for a collective total of 100 marks. Mathematics, the major section of the exam, as per trends hold the maximum weightage of 75 questions. Total duration of the exam will be same as previous years i.e. 4 hours.

In Category I, 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer option, while 0.25 mark will be deducted for incorrect response. Marking more than one answer option in the OMR sheet will be treated as incorrect answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for the same.

In Category 2, 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answer.

In Category 3 questions, more than 1 options may or may not be correct. Candidates will be awarded full marks i.e., 2 marks if they mark all the right answers. No negative marking for incorrect answers. For partially correct responses without any incorrect marking, the following formulae will be used to award marks = 2 X (no of correct responses)/ (total no of correct options).
