WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment

WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment will be done by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board (WBJEEB) for candidates who qualify the exam. WBJEE Counselling 2017 is scheduled from June 15 to July 19, 2017 (tentatively). The choice filling and seat locking option will be available to candidates till June 22, 2017. The Result of First Round of Seat Allotment will be declared on July 04, 2017.

Candidates can choose any one of the WBJEE Participating Institutes 2017 to pursue a course in Engineering/ Pharmacy/ Architecture. Students who have cleared JEE Main are also eligible to apply for WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment.  Last year, more than 1,10,000 candidates appeared for WBJEE for a total of 37,348 seats offered by 118 Institutes across the state. 

WBJEE is state level exam conducted for admission to undergraduate programmes of Engineering & Technology courses offered by Universities, Government Colleges and Self-financed Institutes in the state. This year, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam will be conducted on April 23, 2017.

WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment Procedure

Once candidates succesfully clear WBJEE Cutoff, they will be alloted seats through various rounds of WBJEE Counselling 2017. The WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment procedure will begin in June 2017. Generally, there will be 3 rounds of counselling to allot seats to qualifying candidates. The procedure for WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment is described below:

WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment- Round 1

Candidates who find a place in the first WBJEE 2017 Merit List will proceed to choice-filling. Then, WBJEE Seat Allotment 2017 will be done. The result for WBJEE Seat Allotment will be published on the official website of WBJEE i.e. Candidates must take a print of the same. 

Students who get a seat through first round of WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment must report to one of the WBJEE Reporting Centres to complete their admission formalities. In case a candidate fails to report to the venue, it will lead to cancellation of provisional seat allotment and will not be considered for subsequent rounds.

It is mandatory for candidates to carry the relevant documents and allotment letter at the reporting centre for verification. After the successful Seat Allotment of WBJEE 2017, the candidates can opt for the up-gradation or no up-gradation of seats. Selecting up-gradation means, the seat allotted in the first round will be preserved. However, the candidates will be eligible for the seat allotment procedure in the subsequent round of WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment.

The candidates who will select no up-gradation option, the candidates must report to the allotted institutes. The allotted institutes will accept only those candidates who will report to the reporting centre and will opt for no up-gradation.

WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment- Round 2 

No fresh registrations will be done for the second round of WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment. The choices filled by candidates in the first round will be considered for this round. The registered candidates who will not get seats in the 1st round will be eligible for the second round.

WBJEE 2017 also offers admissions to JEE Main candidates on the basis of marks scored by them in JEE Main. However, such candidates are required to attend the counselling procedure and participate in the online seat allotment process. They will also be required to produce JEE Main Score Card at Reporting Centress

WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment- Round 3

On the basis of Round 2, candidates will be alloted seats in Round 3. Candidates who will be allotted seats for the first time will be required to report at any reporting centre for the provisional Seat Allotment of WBJEE 2017. The Seats are offered to the candidates on the basis of seats’ availability and the preferences opted by from the available combinations. Round 3 of WBJEE 2017 Seat Allotment will be held in July 2017. 

The candidates who will be granted admission must report to the allotted institute to complete the admission formalities. If there will be seats vacant under SCPH, STPH, BCAPH and BCBPH category, after the 2nd round of seat allotment, then it will be directly converted into OPPH category. However, even after that, the seats will be left vacant, then the categories will be converted as following.

Documents required At Reporting Centre

Candidates who get a seat should report to an Admission Reporting Centre (ARC), will all the necessary documents. The reporting fee is:

  • INR 5000 for seats allotted in State aided University/University Departments/Govt. Engineering & Technology Colleges
  • INR 20,000 for students allotted  in Self-financing Engineering & Technology /Pharmacy/Architecture institutes.

  3. WBJEE Admit Card
  4. JEE Main 2017 Score card, if applicable
  5. Class X Marksheet
