The entrance exam is held for admission in the Universities in Telangana State and their affiliated colleges for the academic year 2017-18. It is conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad.

**TSICET** has three sections - Analytical Ability, Mathematical Ability and Communication Ability. Analytical and Mathematical Ability have 75 questions each, with one mark for each right answer, hence both sections have 75 marks each. Communication Ability has 50 questions, hence this section is of 50 marks. All three sections combined, the TSICET is of 200 marks with 200 questions.

MBA and an equivalent degree can be a get-away ticket to a better career and a better life. Needless to say that it is one of the most crucial exams a person writes in his life. Thus, it is essential that candidates take this test seriously and prepare for it in time. A rushed preparation will only lead to a low score and since this exam is highly competitive, candidates are advised to be well aware of the syllabus and the exam pattern. To make it comprehensible, below is a section wise description of all three parts of the exam. Aspirants must go through it thoroughly before starting their preparation. TISCET requires its aspirants to study hard and study smart.

Analytical Ability involves questions from Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving, largely categorised as Logical Reasoning. Mathematical Ability has questions from Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics largely categorised as quantitative aptitude. Communication Ability has questions covering topics like reading comprehension, vocabulary, functional grammar, business and technical terminology, largely categorised as verbal reasoning

It is a pen-paper based exam, held in offline mode in campuses across the state. Candidates have to write TSICET in two and a half hours. Below is a table detailing other important factors of the exam.

It is crucial that candidates prepare for the exam mindful of the weightage given to each section. So each section must be studied carefully. Read below for a detailed description of the syllabus for each section.

Analytical Ability consists of 75 questions of one mark each, giving the the entire section a good weightage of 75 marks.

Analytical Ability has questions from two broad topics

- Data Sufficiency - 20 questions, 20 marks
- Problem Solving - 55 questions, 55 marks

Candidates should cover the following chapters for covering both the topics. These are the type of questions that TSICET covers:

**Number System & Sequences and Series:**Analogies of numbers and alphabet, completion of blank spaces following the pattern in a:b::c:d relationship; odd thing out: missing number in a sequence or a series.**Data Analysis:**The data given in a Table, Bar diagram, Venn Diagram, Graph, Pie Chart, or a Passage is to be analyzed and the questions relating to the data are to be answered. It primarily consists of decoding data.**Alphabetical Coding and Decoding Problems:**A code pattern of English Alphabet is given. A given word or a group of letters are to be coded or decoded based on the given code or codes. It can be a letter assigned to a code or a code assigned to a given series of words.**Date, Time, Travel & Arrangement Problems:**Questions related to time and space will be asked including arrangement problems which involves permutations and combination.

Section A - Analytical Ability | No. of questions | No. of marks |
---|---|---|

Data Sufficiency | 20 | 20 |

Problem Solving | 55 | 55 |

Total | 75 questions | 75 marks |

Candidates can consult the following books that will help them prepare timely and with a set structure. Candidates should also solve both topic wise and mixed questions to make sure that their speed and accuracy can be tested well before the exam

Mathematical Ability consists of 75 questions of one mark each, giving the the entire section a good weightage of 75 marks. Same as Analytical Ability. However, this section is slightly more difficult than analytical ability as it tests the candidate’s basics and mathematical aptitude.

Mathematical Ability has questions from two broad topics

- Arithmetical Ability - 35 questions, 35 marks
- Algebraical & Geometrical Ability - 30 questions, 30 marks
- Statistical Ability - 10 questions, 10 marks

Candidates should cover the following chapters the three topics. These are the type of questions that **TSICET** covers for testing Mathematical Aptitude:

**Arithmetical Ability will have questions from the following topics:**Laws of indices, Ratio and proportion, Surds, Numbers and divisibility, l.c.m. and g.c.d, Rational numbers, Percentages, Profit and loss, Partnership, Pipes and cisterns, Time, distance and work problems, Areas and volumes, Mensuration, Modular arithmetic.**Algebraical and Geometrical Ability will have questions from the following topics:**Tautologies-Sets, Relations and functions, applications – Equation of a line in different forms, Trigonometry. Progressions, Binomial Theorem, Matrices, Notion of a limit and derivative; Lines, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Coordinate geometry.**Statistical Ability will have questions from the following topics:**Frequency distributions, Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviations, Correlation, Simple problems on Probability.

The section is divided as such

- Vocabulary - 10 questions, 10 marks
- Business and Computer terminology - 10 questions, 10 marks
- Functional Grammar - 15 questions, 15 marks
- Reading Comprehension - 15 questions, 15 marks

Candidates should brush up on their grammar basics and make reading newspaper, blogs, novels and relevant news items as well as scholarly essays a regular time bound activity to judge their speed and accuracy. They must also make it a point to solve as many reading passages as possible, it will give them a sense of structure and also improve their reading and answering time.
