TISSNET Reservation 2018

TISSNET is accepted at TISS Mumbai, Tuljalpur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, The Banyan Chennai, MHAT Chennai and G-SET Ranchi. Final admission to the management courses at all these institutes is governed by the TISSNET Reservation Policy.

  • This policy makes it compulsory to offer 66% seats to the students of the north-east region.
  • Thus, the remaining 34% seats are available for the students across the country.
  • Educators working at any of the government institutes or DIET’s can apply for the master’s programme offered at TISS through the defined channel.
  • There is a separate quota defined for Kashmiri students, children of army personnel’s or defence personnel and government officers who are working at any government office at Central or State level.

TISSNET Reservation Policy for Mumbai, Tuljapur and Hyderabad Campuses

  • TISSNET Result will form the basis for the admission to the courses offered at TISS.
  • There are well-defined reservation rules which are covered under the guidelines of TISSNET 2018 reservation policy that will be followed at the time of seat allotment on the basis of the counselling.
  • Following are the number of seats reserved at TISS, as defined under TISSNET reservation policy:
  1. Schedule Cast (SC): 15% of the total seats.
  2. Schedule Tribe (ST): 7.5% of the total seats
  3. Other backward classes (OBC) (Non- Creamy Layer): 27% of the total seats.

The clause of any alteration in the policy for TISNET 2018 is as follows:

  • Seats reserved for SC/ST will be allotted or filled by SC/ST candidates only.
  • In case the eligible candidates are not eligible then the seats reserved will be interchanged between SC &ST.
  • In case the seats are left unfulfilled then the same will remain vacant for the year.
  • If the seats of OBC’s remain vacant after the eligible candidate’s list is over, they will be converted into general category seats.
  • The rules of conversion will be defined by the institute.

TISSNET Reservation Policy for Guwahati Campus

Going by the rules of the admission process, TISS needs to allot 66% of seats to the candidates from these eight northeast states. The seat allotment process for each of the states will be governed by the reservation rules of the respective states.

The seats share left for the candidates from the remaining states come to be around 34%. The seat allotment in this share of 34% will be governed by the rules issued by Government of India (GoI).

Supernumerary Quota

What is a supernumery quota?

Supernumery quota is an additional reservation policy issued by the GoI, in order to provide tuition fee waiver benefit, to the students, where the annual income of the family is less than 4.5 lakhs. The certificate has to be issued by the Tahsildar for the process of seat allotment.

  1. Person with disability:

As per the guidelines issued by GoI, 3% seats are reserved for the person with the disability at the time of admission. The three categories of disability benefits are as follows:

(a) low-vision/blindness

(b) Hearing impairment

(c) Locomotor disability/cerebral palsy

The disability certificate must be issued by the competent government authorities and the degree of disability accepted under the quota is more than 40%.

Such a person can request an assistance of a scribe. The scribe must be an undergraduate student, registered at the time of filling TISSNET Application Form. The scribe must bring a valid photo ID proof at the time of examination.

Special note: (Persons With Disability: 3% seats(supernumerary quota) as applicable will be considered in the Master’s Degree Programmes for PWD of which 1% each is reserved for persons with (a) Low Vision/Blindness, (b) Learning Disability/Cerebral Palsy) and (c) Hearing Impairment

2) Kashmiri migrants:

As part of the supernumery quota of TISSNET reservation policy, 5% seats are reserved for the students of Kashmiri origin. The rule is applied as per the GoI reservation rules.

3) Armed forces

5% seats are reserved as per TISSNET reservation policy for the children /widows of personnel Armed/Paramilitary Forces killed/disabled in action during the hostilities in the following priority:

Priority I : Widows/wards of Defense personnel/Para-Military Personnel killed in action.

Required Certificate: Proof in Original.

Priority II : Wards of serving Defense Personnel and ex-servicemen/Para-Military personnel disabled in action.

Required Certificate: Original disability certificate clearly indicating the disability is attributable to Military Services.

Priority III : Widows/wards of Defense Personnel/Para-Military Personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to Military Service.

Required Certificate: Original death certificate clearly indicating the cause of death is attributable to Military Service.

Priority IV : Wards of Defense Personnel/Para-Military Personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to Military Service.

Required Certificate: Original disability certificate clearly indicating the disability is attributable to Military Service.

Priority V : Wards of serving Defense Personnel and ex-servicemen Para-Military/Police Personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.

Required Certificate: Proof of award in Original.

Priority VI : Wards of Defense Ex-servicemen.

Required Certificate: Original ex-servicemen Identity Card/discharge book/PPO(Pension Payment Order).

Priority VII : Wards of serving Defense Personnel.

Required Certificate: Original Service Identity Cards and Dependent Card/Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.

TISSNET Reservation Criteria for Deputed Candidates

This quota is available for working professional or students/ candidates who are working in the government sector on full or part-time basis:

  1. If a candidate is a working as a government officers/employees/ teacher/ resource person at Departments of Education/SCERTs/DIETs wishes to apply for M.A. Education (Elementary) programme, he/she must send the application form through the relevant authority nominating the candidate. The selection of the candidate will be on the basis of the documents submitted and the screening test process. This will be followed by PI.
  2. If the Central or State government sends an officer who is already debuted at a post for studying Master’s Degree programme, he will have to appear for PI.
  3. In case a Defence personnel is applying for M.A. /M.Sc. in Disaster Management, the eligible candidate will be called for written test at TISS, and if it is found eligible, he will have to appear for PI also at TISS.

TISSNET Reservation Criteria for International Candidates

  • Admission of International candidates/ students will be done through the International Relations Office (IRO) of TISS for any of the Master’s Degree program.
  • Students will be admitted at the beginning of the degree programme, in case of Master’s program, for a short-term course, students can be admitted at any during the year.
  • All students of foreign origin who hold citizenship certificate with or without Indian citizenship certificate are eligible to apply as International candidates.
