TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern

TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern- Anna University has not announced any changes in TANCET Paper Pattern 2018. The exam is scheduled in March in offline mode.  TANCET is conducted for admission to M.E., M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Arch. and M.Plan.  

Just Released- TANCET 2018 Mock Test

Separate question papers are set for all the courses (MBA, MCA, M.Tech.), where all have a different structure. However, the basic TANCET Exam Pattern followed in all TANCET Question Papers remains the same. It is given below:

  • Duration of exam- Maximum time allowed to attempt the question paper is 2 hours.
  • Nature of questions- Only multiple-choice questions are asked in TANCET.
  • Sections- TANCET Question Paper will have questions from Data Analysis, Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude, General English. Read complete TANCET 2018 Syllabus
  • Total Questions- 100 questions are asked in the paper.
  • Total Marks- Maximum marks obtained by a candidate are 100. 
  • Language of Paper- The paper is set in English and Tamil,
  • Marking scheme- 1 mark is awarded for a correct response. There is negative marking of 1/3 marks for an incorrect response

TANCET Exam Pattern 2018 for MBA 

TANCET 2018 for MBA courses is divided into four sections. The first section aims to check the candidate’s ability to identify data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. Other sections evaluate student’s passage comprehension ability, mathematics and Basic English knowledge.

TANCET Exam Pattern 2018 for MCA

This paper examines the aspirant’s capability regarding admission into MCA course. It consists of four different sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and General Computer Awareness. There are only multiple choice questions that make up the maximum marks of 100. There can be some questions from English and Basic Sciences, though it is less probable.

TANCET Exam Pattern 2018 for 

TANCET 2018 exam for M.Tech or M.Arch and other technical courses decides whether the candidate is eligible for admission to the state colleges of Tamil Nadu. TANCET Question Paper comprises of three parts.

  • Part I and Part II are mandatory for the applicants while they have to choose the Part III’s subject at the time of registration.
  • Part III is chosen according to the course the candidate wants to pursue.

TANCET 2018 Marking Scheme

There are different papers for different courses in TANCET 2018 but similar marking scheme is followed in all tests. Let’s have a look into the marking scheme of this exam:

  • TANCET 2018 question paper is of 100 marks containing 100 multiple choice questions.
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • Candidates lose 1/3 marks for every incorrect response.
  • If a student marks more than one option in a single question in TANCET 2018, it is counted as wrong and negative marking is done.
  • Questions left unanswered are ignored while checking the OMR. No marks are given/ deducted for such questions.

TANCET 2018 Syllabus

Anna University prescribes the syllabus for TANCET every year. The detailed syllabus can be downloaded from the university’s official website.

  • Questions determining the ability of data sufficiency for answering certain problems using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics are asked.
  • Test of knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling and other topics is taken.
  • Mathematical problems are from undergraduate and CLASS XII (10+2) level only.
  • Comprehensive questions tests the candidate’s skill to answer questions based on their reading of the given unseen passage.

Hi Saravanan, TANCET ME/M. Tech Paper is divided into 3 parts: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Part 1 and Part 2 comprises 30 questions each and every question in Part 1 and Part 2 carries 1 mark While Part 3 consists of 40 – 45 questions carrying 40 marks.
