SNAP Selection Procedure 2017

The selection rounds of Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) are expected to begin from the third week of January 2018. SNAP Selection Procedure comprises two stages viz. SNAP Exam and GE-PIWAT (Group Exercise, Personal Interaction, and Writing Aptitude Test).

  • Result of SNAP 2017 will be declared on December 28.
  • Candidates shortlisted on the basis of SNAP Result have to appear for the all the tests of GE, PI & WAT.
  • The final SNAP Merit List 2017 will release in February 2018.
  • Final selection is made on the basis of overall performance in all stages of SNAP Selection Procedure.

Selected candidates are then given a seat in MBA/PGPM courses, offered by Symbiosis International University (SIU). The score of the entrance exam is accepted by 15  SNAP Colleges. You must register for the participating colleges for GE/PIWAT process at the time of application form filling. The selection of the slots will be done on the basis of first-come-first basis.

While SIU will announce the result of SNAP 2017 on December 28, the selection rounds are scheduled in January 2018. Read below to know all important dates of SNAP Selection Procedure 2017:

SNAP Selection Procedure 2017: Group Exercise

  • After SNAP is conducted successfully on December 17, aspirants obtaining the minimum cutoff marks are called for GE round.
  • It’s a process to screen the aspirants on the basis of their potential as well as their skills. They are tested on their communication skills, tactfulness, problem-solving abilities, and ability to stay focused and get the task done in allotted time.
  • In this round, aspirants are given a topic to discuss among themselves for 15-20 minutes.
  • They are divided into groups and each group is given two case studies.
  • The candidates get five minutes to go through the case study and 15 minutes to discuss and reach a consensus. On the basis of GE, aspirants are allowed to attend PI round.

SNAP GE Experience

  • The process begins by dividing aspirants into groups of 7-8 people and assigning each group to a group coordinator.
  • Following that, aspirants are shown a video clip for our first GE exercise.
  • Discussion is allowed on this topic for seven minutes (Allotted time).
  • After that there is a break for two minutes and then second GD is started.

SNAP 2017 Selection Procedure: Personal Interaction

  • The purpose of conducting a personal interview is to explore the responses of an aspirant, his interpersonal, soft skills, confidence and thought clarity.
  • Annexure and the other forms are provided to the aspirants. 
  • Interviewer may ask questions based on details you filled in Annexure, and other information based on candidates’ academic qualifications. 

SNAP PI Experience

SNAP PI Experience of one the SNAP 2015 aspirant “There were two interviewers. I had mentioned my father as my role model so the first question was related to that. They asked me how does he inspire me? I told them about his influence in my personal life as well as my professional life and how he motivates me to work harder towards my goals. Then they asked some questions about my family. Then hobbies, I told them about my inclination towards art and craft and towards designing apparels and accessories. “You are an artist, why don’t you join NIFT or NID?” I told them about the courses offered at designing institutes and about the courses offered at SIBM and how the latter are more relevant to my career goals than the former. And I was able to convince them. They posed the question that: “Did your father do an MBA?” I told them no. So they asked me if he could do it without an MBA, why are you wasting two years, go and start your venture straightaway”. to which I told them some of my father’s experiences and told them how studying in SIBM will help me in doing business in a better way.


SNAP 2017 Selection Procedure: Written Ability Test

  • The Written Ability Test is a pen and paper exam. It may also be termed as an essay writing test.
  • It tests an aspirant’s writing skills clubbed with consistency & clarity and time management.
  • WAT has been designed to basically test aspirants’ knowledge and richness of content.
  • All aspirants have to write a short essay on a particular topic or case study given to them within 25 minutes.

SNAP WAT Experience

Prakriti Sharma, who secured admission to IIM Kozhikode, shared her experience. She says, “My topic for WAT was ‘all government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery’. I wrote about the importance of democracy and talked about the 13th amendment brought by Lincoln. I talked of the Indian context as well and tried to touch upon as many different angles as possible.

Jayesh Ruchandani , who secured admission to IIM Kashipur says that time allotted to him for WAT was 25 minutes out of which he spent around 13 minutes towards thinking and structuring the points and utilized remaining time in writing the essay. He also said that he was able to complete his WAT in around 20 minutes.


SNAP 2017 Merit List

  • The final merit list of SNAP 2017 is expected to release in February 2018.
  • Category-wise cut off for Merit List and Wait List is displayed on the website of the respective institutes. Wait list movement will depend upon the vacant seats available.
  • It is prepared by SIU on the basis of marks scored in SNAP and GE/PIWAT rounds.
  • It must be noted that SNAP Test is of 150 marks, which is scaled down to 50 marks during SNAP Selection Process. 
  • Given below is the weightage of marks given to all stages of SNAP Selection Procedure while preparing the merit list:

NOTE: Please note that this admission is provisional and will be confirmed on payment of fees on or before the due date and subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions of the respective programme(s) and in accordance with the rules of the Symbiosis International University.

The final merit list will contain names of all selected candidates. These will be offered a seat in MBA/PGPM programme in any one of the SNAP Participating Colleges. All these colleges come under Symbiosis International University, which is considered to be a renowned university in India.
