NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test) is a national level entrance examination conducted for admission in MCA courses offered by NITs across the nation. National Institute of Technology, Agartala will organize NIMCET this year. Candidates will be given admission in MCA courses on the basis of their rank in NIMCET 2017.

Official notification for NIMCET 2017 has already been released. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 28, 2017. The application process has already started on February 20, 2017 and will continue up to March 20, 2017.

The application fee for the course for General/OBC is INR 2,000/- and for SC/ST students the fee is INR 1,000.

The basic qualification required to be eligible is a B.E. or B.Tech degree from a recognized institute or full-time B.Sc/ B.Sc (Hons) /BCA /BIT course of at least 3 years duration with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. The results will be out by the 1st week of June and the counselling starts thereafter.

NIMCET 2017 Exam Dates

What is NIMCET?

The NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission into their MCA programme. National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are Centrally Funded Technical Institutes and around 10 NITs will participate in NIMCET 2017. The exam will be conducted by NIT Agartala for the year 2017.

NIMCET Eligibility 2017

Candidates who want to apply for NIMCET 2017 must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • B.E. or B.Tech degree from a recognized institute
  • Full-time B.Sc/ B.Sc (Hons) /BCA /BIT course of at least 3 years duration with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA

Candidates presently appearing in the above exams can also apply, but they need to produce proof of the same at the time of counselling.

Distance education programme must be approved by AICTE/UGC and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.

How to fill NIMCET Application Form 2017?

NIMCET Application Form is available on the official website since February 20, 2017. The form can be filled through online mode only. 

To fill the NIMCET application form, candidates must follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Candidates need to register online on the official website

Step 2: After registration, applicants should fill all the particulars in the NIMCET application form

Step 3: After filling the NIMCET Application form, a candidate must pay the application fee by using a credit card, debit card, or Internet banking.

Step 4: Finally, send the printout of the application form with e-receipt of the payment including all relevant documents by Speed Post/Registered Post on or before March 31, 2017. The address is as follows:

NIMCET 2017 Application Fee

  • For General/OBC NIMCET 2017 application fee is INR 2,000/-
  • For SC/ST students application fee is INR 1,000/-

The fee is non-refundable and has to be paid through NIMCET 2017 website only, before the final submission of the online application.

NIMCET Admit Card 2017

Admit card will not be sent to the applicants via post. Candidates have to download the admit card from the official website. NIMCET 2017 Admit card will be available from May 16, 2017. Candidates have to carry the admit card on the exam day i.e., May 28, 2017.

Details on the NIMCET Admit Card 2017:

The following information will be present in the Admit Card:

  • Candidate Name & Photo
  • Candidate DOB & Signature
  • Roll Number
  • NIMCET Exam Date, Venue & Exam Time
  • Instructions for the NIMCET Exam

Note: An applicant who fails to carry his/ her Admit Card with an ID Proof will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

NIMCET Exam Pattern 2017 

It is important for aspirants to have knowledge of NIMCET exam pattern in order to excel in the examination. Knowing the complete detail of NIMCET Syllabus will help the candidates in an early exam preparation.

  • NIMCET 2017 - duration: 2 hours
  • Mode of exam: Offline. Candidates have to use blue or black ball point pen to mark their answers.
  • Number of questions: There will be 120 objective type questions in the exam followed by 4 options.
  • Marking scheme: 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and there will be negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. There will be no negative marking for unanswered questions.

NIMCET Result 2017

NIMCET 2017 Result will be declared on or before June 6, 2017. The exam result will be available on the official website of NIMCET- The candidates can access their NIMCET Result through their personal LOGIN ID. The complete merit list according to the marks secured by the candidate will be published on the NIMCET website. In addition, all India merit lists will be prepared for various categories like-SC/ST/OBC etc. candidates.

NIMCET Cutoff 2017

A cutoff list will be prepared by the NIMCET 2016-17 officials. Candidates scoring zero or negative marks in Mathematics will be disqualified from the selection process. With an increase in the number of applicants taking the NIMCET Exam every year, the cutoff also increases. Cutoff is the minimum score declared by the institute for the admission process. Cutoff forms the basis of the NIMCET Counselling and NIMCET Seat Allotment. 

NIMCET 2017 Cutoff is calculated considering various factors such as difficulty level of the exam, availability of seats, average marks scored in the test and total candidates taking the test. The difficulty of NIMCET 2017 has been expected to be moderate. Taking the above points into consideration, the cut off can increase by 2%-5%.

NIMCET Counselling 2017

NIMCET Counselling starts from June 9, 2017. Candidate must indicate their NITs preference online where they want to take admission. There will be a centralized admission process for NIMCET 2017 and admission will be done on the basis of merit.
