IIT Gandhinagar GATE Cutoff & Selection Procedure

IIT Gandhinagar GATE cut-off is the minimum marks that a candidate needs to secure so as to qualify and be eligible for admission in IIT Gandhinagar in MTech course for the academic year 2018-19.

  • After COAP registration, selected candidates (on the basis of offers and their acceptance) are required to fill the registration form for their respective institutes. 
  • After successful completion of registration, a candidate will be able to access information on offers made from the participating institutes.
  • COAP offers will take place in 5 rounds, which will depend on the availability of seats and preferred choices of the participants. 
  • To access and make a decision on the most preferred choice out of the offers made by the participating IITs, each candidate should visit COAP.
  • Without registering at COAP, the candidates will not be able to access the offers on COAP and therefore, will not be able to take admission in any of the IITs. 
  • Candidates who have accepted the seats in spot round(s) of any COAP participating institute, will not be considered in any of the subsequent rounds of COAP-2018.
  • Hence, the participants must exercise abundant caution in selecting "Accept and Freeze".
  • GATE  Cutoff for IIT Gandhinagar will be prepared by the authorities of the institute defining the minimum marks required to get through the admission process.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admission: Selection Process

The short-listed candidates, on the basis of GATE score, have to appear for a written test and an interview to get admission into M. Tech program at IIT Gandhinagar. On the day of the written test, the candidates have to reach the institute latest by 8:30 am as the examination will begin by 9:00 am. The name of the candidates that are short-listed on the basis of written test will be announced on the same day before 2: 00 pm.

  • Only those students who have scored minimum cut-off marks in the written examination are eligible to apply for an interview.
  • The interview will be taken by an expert panel.
  • Interview will be conducted on the same day after the declaration of result of the written test that may extend up to the next day.
  • The reserved candidates will be given relaxation in the cutoff marks of written test as per the norms.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech 2017 Admission Schedule

Based on the GATE cutoff, academic record, written test and interview, the candidates will be shortlisted for the courses of their choice in IIT Gandhinagar. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the written test followed by an interview for admission into IIT Gandhinagar.

  • The written test will comprise questions from General Aptitude (Logical Reasoning, Analytical and Numerical Ability, etc.), Engineering Mathematics and basic courses in undergraduate up to a 3rd year will be asked. 
  • Academically meritorious candidates will have an edge as they may be granted admission based on marks secured in GATE 2018 and/or Academic record, without appearing for written test or interview.
  • The final decision will be made by the institute.

IIT Gandhinagar GATE Cut Off 2017

Candidates clearing GATE cutoff will be eligible for admission to M.Tech Program offered at IIT Gandhinagar. Since IIT Gandhinagar is a new IIT, thus, GATE cutoff for IIT Gandhinagar is lower as compared to the old IITs. The admission process for all the M.Tech program will commence post declaration of the GATE Results.

  • GATE Cutoff depends on the various factors which are as follows

  2. No of seats in each course
  3. Difficulty level of GATE
  4. Category of the candidate
  • GATE 2017 was conducted as per schedule in 8 sessions on 4 different dates.
  • GATE cutoff for the different paper will vary.
  • Candidate needs to secure minimum marks (out of 1000) so that they are eligible for the interview/test.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech 2017: Application Procedure

Candidates willing to be a part of IIT Gandhinagar have to apply online where they have to fill an online application form by visiting the official website. To fill the application form, candidates can follow the easy steps provided below:

Step 1: Visit the GATE official website

Step 2: Before filling the application form, candidates need to register by providing their email ID and other details that are asked.

Step 3: After registering, applicants must fill all the details that are mandatory. This includes personal details, educational qualification (which includes GATE scores), other details and address details.

Step 4: After filling the application form, submit it to complete the application process


  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Candidates must fill a separate application form if they want to apply for more than one discipline.
  • A soft copy of submitted application form will be mailed in 2-3 working days.
  • At the time of interview, the candidate has to furnish the hard copy of application form and documentary evidence in original (educational certificates, work experience, etc.) at the time of interview.
  • No Application fee is charged.
  • A hard copy of application form is not to be sent.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech: Financial Assistance

Candidates who get admission in full-time M.Tech program will get a monthly scholarship of INR12,400. A candidate who enrols in part-time M.Tech or PGDIIT will not receive any stipend.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admission: Eligibility Criteria

For candidates possessing the following qualifying degree(s), the minimum eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Candidates possessing B.Tech/ BE or equivalent in the relevant branches
  1. At least 55% marks or at least 5.5/10 CPI or CGPA (59% marks for SC/ST)
  2. Valid GATE score
  3. Candidates applying for part-time M.Tech or PGDIIT do need a valid GATE score
  • Sponsored Candidates
  1. Work experience should be more than 2 years
  2. Employer grant 2 years of study leave
  3. Employer undertakes to financially support the candidate for full duration of course
  • Candidates should have completed B.Tech from any of the IITs
  1. CPI or CGPA should be 8/10 or above
  2. Valid GATE score is not needed
