Q1. What mock papers did you take?

All Mechanical GATE Material was enough for me. Mock tests serve three important purposes:

  • Introduces you to the interface and instructions of the GATE exam.
  • Teaches you time management.
  • Helps you identify your weak areas and recurring mistakes.

Q2. What are the websites you followed for getting regular updates and preparation?

No, I didn’t use any website. Frankly, if you are good at the basics of your subject and can recall all those things, then self-study is enough.

Q3. Share the name of the books and materials that you followed for excelling in GATE?

By the means of books preparation becomes easy. I would recommend all the future GATE aspirants to read the latest edition of the books.

Q4. Write some of the preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 and 2 months before the exam?

I first revised all the class notes given on Fundamental of computers& Programming with c, Engineering mechanics, Basics of mechanical engineering, Engineering thermodynamics, etc. thoroughly till December 2016. I made short notes while studying so that I could use those for revision at the last moment. I studied up to 10 hours each day. I made sure that I studied more than two subjects each day alternating between them. Also, both theory and numerical type questions were done by me daily to avoid getting bored.

Q5. Share your Strategy and how did you overcome the weak areas, what special efforts did you put in?

I made a conscious effort to strong my Mathematical and logical problem solving skills which only get better and better with practice. All the below mentioned topics need utmost importance:

Question Papers, mechanical mathematics, mechanical chemistry, mechanical physics, Basics of Electronics, Fundamental of computers& Programming with c, Engineering Electrical Technology, Engineering English, Engineering thermodynamics, Engineering mechanics, Basics of mechanical engineering.
