Jadavpur University is one of the elite institutes in India that accept GATE Scores for admission to various Post graduate courses. Jadavpur has two campuses in Jadavpur and Salt-lake. The University is considered as one of the first five universities in the country with a potential for excellence. Admission to Jadavpur University is highly competitive especially post graduate engineering courses. The GATE Cut off for admission to Jadavpur University should be more than 90. The shortlisted candidates are called for a written test and an interview. The finally selected candidates are enrolled for the upcoming academic session.
GATE is scheduled every year by IITs on a rotational basis for the candidates who are interested in ME/M.Tech courses. The pattern of exam varies every time and so does the cut off. The GATE Cutoff is different for each Category (GEN/OBC/SC/ST) and is prepared considering multiple factors into account.
Jadavpur University requires the GATE Cut Off for admission in the institute. Admission in M.Tech is based upon GATE score and interview that follows. GATE Score holds 70% and interview holds 30% weight in the preparation of final Merit List. For admission in M.Tech programmes, University accepts GATE/NET scores with at least 60% marks and candidates are required to register on the institute’s official website.

For getting admission in M. Tech programme in Jadavpur University candidate have to score well in the GATE exam i.e more than 600 score. After scoring more than 600 score you have a fair chance to get admission in M. Tech.

This year, just 16% candidates qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) as compared to 15%. These numbers are not as high as they should be, GATE organising chairman GJ Chakrapani said on Tuesday. The Cutoff for each branch is mentioned in the table below.
About 9,22,167 candidates applied for the exam with 85% or 7,87,148 writing the exam and just 16% or 1,29,149 qualifying, including general, OBC, SC, ST, or people with disabilities. This percentage was almost similar to the 15% who qualified last year, Chakrapani said, as more candidates applied for the test last year.

The tests were online and were conducted for 23 disciplines including the new Petroleum Engineering. The virtual calculator was introduced as new feature with IISc Bangalore releasing the details prior to the exam and allowing candidates the facility to practise on it. The GATE 2017 cut-off is the minimum score required by a candidate to take admission in postgraduate courses offered by various different colleges and universities. Candidates who appeared in GATE 2017 are required to secure equal to or more than the cut-off as declared by GATE 2017 in order to clear the exam.
The GATE cut-off varies from course to course and college to college. Every deferent College or universities decides it’s own cut off (minimum marks) according to the seats that institute have.
Jadavpur University reserves 40 per cent of its postgraduate seats for students from other universities.
According to a Jadavpur University official, the move has been prompted by an urge to draw best brains at the master’s level through competition and a government advisory to set aside 40 per cent postgraduate seats for external students.
According to the Jadavpur University 60 per cent of the postgraduate seats will be set for their own university students, who will be selected according to merit and if seats remained vacant after taking in all its undergraduate students willing to do post graduation there then the students will be selected through the GATE Entrance Exam.
