NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
GATE 2018 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) will be conducted by IIT Guwahati in February, 2018. The exam will be held on Feb 3-4 and Feb 10-11. Last time IIT Guwahati conducted GATE in the year 2010.
Around 1 million students take this competitive examination every year in order to seek admission into elite Engineering institutions of India. The dates of the exam are earlier than expected. In 2017, IIT Roorkee was the entrance examination conducting body.

Aspirants will have to fill GATE 2018 application form through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Candidates can refer to the amount of application fee to be paid for different categories mentioned below.
For General candidates, application fee is INR 1,500, for women aspirants and SC/ST/PwD category candidates it is INR 750 and for all the international candidates it is $50.
Candidates who have completed the graduation in their respective disciplines are eligible for the exam. Candidates who are appearing for final semester exams can apply for GATE as well.
Although there is no there is no minimum or maximum age requirement to take the exam and graduation is the required educational qualification, but for each course, the eligibility criteria are different.
From the year 2012, the examination has been used by the PSUs in their recruitment process also and the number of PSUs using the GATE score has increased steadily. GATE 2016 score was also used for recruitment of positions in the Cabinet Secretariat in the Government of India.
There will be 65 questions carrying 100 marks in the GATE 2018 Exam. Candidates can refer to the table given below in order to understand the GATE 2018 exam pattern in a better way:
