CSIR UGC NET 2018 Result

CSIR UGC NET 2018 result will be released by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in September 2018 for the examination conducted in June 2018. The result will be available on the official website at It will be available only on online mode. Based on the results of CSIR UGC NET 2018 exam a merit list would be prepared and candidates would be placed on the list subject to their performance in the exam.

The result will display the following information:

  • Roll number
  • Registration number
  • Marks obtained
  • Rank
  • Category

Based on the performance of the candidates in the exam, two separate lists will be declared by CSIR. One of the lists will display candidates who have qualified JRF-NET and the other will display the details of candidates declared eligible for lectureship (NET).

  • Candidates will not be personally informed of the declaration of the results.
  • The result will be available only on online mode.

Details on Scorecard

CSIR UGC NET 2018 scorecard is a crucial document which is required to be carried at the time of counselling. The scorecard is a vital document that certifies your performance in the exam. Following details would be mentioned in the score card:

  • Candidate’s Roll Number
  • Candidate’s Registration Number
  • Marks obtained
  • Respective rank
  • Category
  • Status of result, whether qualified or not.

Candidates must take the print out of the score card for reference purposes.

Along with total marks and percentage, marks statement gives candidates access to their marks in individual sections - A, B, and C. Other details mentioned on the marks statement include name of the candidate, roll number, and subject.

Please note that candidates are generally required to send their marks statement to the officials for the issue of Qualifying Certificate, along with few other documents. Therefore, it is advised that candidates download and print the marks statement.

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Answer Key

The answer key for CSIR UGC NET 2018 conducted in June will be available in July 2018 on the official website of CSIR. The answer key will be released for all sets of test booklets. This will help the candidates to estimate their score in the examination by matching their responses with those given in the answer key.

For estimating the score, following points should be considered by candidates:

  • Part A: Each correct answer in this section will be allotted 2 marks. For each wrong answer 25% will be deducted.
  • Part B: Each correct answer in this section will be allotted 2 marks. For each wrong answer 25% will be deducted.
  • Part C: Each correct answer in this section will be allotted 4 marks. For each wrong answer 25% will be deducted.

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Merit List

Two separate merit lists will be released on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the test. One list will display the roll number and rank of candidates who have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-NET), and the other list will display the roll number and rank of candidates who have qualified the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET). Those candidates who find their roll number and rank in the result list will be required to send the above-mentioned documents to obtain the Qualifying Certificate.

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Cut Off

Cut Off is the minimum percentage used to determine the candidates who are eligible for Fellowship/Lectureship. Two separate Cut Off lists will be released for selecting candidates for Fellowship and Lectureship. Each discipline will have a separate Cut Off score.

Cut Off marks are affected by a number of factors such as:

  • Difficulty level of the test
  • Number of applicants who appeared for the test
  • Number of seats available for recruitment of candidates
  • Previous cut-off trends of the test

Those candidates who will qualify CSIR UGC NET 2018 exam will be called for interview. Candidates will be selected for interview only after screening on the basis of criteria followed by CSIR depending on the number of fellowships available. Not all candidates may be selected for the interview. The interview will be conducted by expert committees who will assess the academic record and published work of the appearing candidate.

Awarding Junior Research Fellowships and Lectureship

The following criterion applies when it comes to awarding Junior Research Fellowships and Lectureship:

  • The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to candidates will be subjected to their admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.
  • Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET) subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC.
  • Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will receive fellowship either from CSIR or UGC as per their assignment or from the Schemes with which they may find association. The candidates declared eligible for Junior Research Fellowship under UGC scheme and Lectureship will be governed by UGC rules/regulations in this regard.  
  • The candidates qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable.  However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF-NET Fellowship.
  • If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only.
