SSC CGL 2017 Tier 1 Exam Pattern

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) recruitment board conducts exam every year for various SSC CGL posts. This year also the notification of the application process has been announced by the board. Candidates who are seeking jobs in government sector can apply for SSC CGL 2017 from August 1, 2017.

  • SSC CGL Exam has been divided into four tiers – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV.
  • Tier I and Tier II will be conducted in online mode while Tier III is a descriptive test to be conducted in pen and paper mode.
  • The Tier IV of SSC CGL is conducted to test the proficiency in computer knowledge.
  • Final result will be based on the marks obtained in Tier I, Tier II & Tier III exam.
  • The pattern of SSC CGL Tier 1 which is almost same from the last years has been changed this year.
  • The exam which used to be in offline mode is to be conducted this time in online mode. Even the time duration of exam will be 75 minutes this time.

SSC CGL Tier 1 will have 4 sections that will include:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • English Comprehension

The questions asked in Tier 1 will be multiple choice questions (MCQs). The exam will be of total 200 marks which will contain 100 questions that the candidates need to complete in 60 minutes.

Exam Pattern in detail for each subject

Exam pattern which is of concern like what type of questions will be asked from which topic most of the question will be asked is of utmost importance.

The candidates who are wishing to appear in the exam should check the SSC CGL Exam Pattern to manage their preparation accordingly.SSC CGL will be a computer based test i.e. in online mode this time.

  • No. of Questions: Total Questions that will be asked in the exam will be 100.
  • Total Marks: SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be of total 200 marks.
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer in the Tier I exam.

Time Duration: Candidates will be allotted 75 minutes to complete their exam and for VH & Candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy 100 minutes will be given to them to complete their exam.


SSC CGL Tier 1 Marking Scheme

Marking pattern of the exam must be kept in mind by the Candidate while preparing for the exam to have a focus on which subject to give maximum time and how much question to attempt in what time to score more and attempt maximum questions.
