SSC has yet not announced the final vacancies to be filled through SSC CGL 2017. As speculated by many experts and officials, the commission is expected to announce tentatively 20,000 vacancies following some major events like demonetization. The post of Inspectors (Examiner) is one pf the most sought-after vacancy among CGL aspirants.

The reason for high preference for this post among candidates may be sighted from the fact that the job profile of an Inspector (Examiner) carries a great degree of power, prominent job locations, high social status, job satisfaction, etc. All these perks and packages make this profile a hot favorite among candidates.

SSC CGL is a premier national level recruitment exam held every year for filling various Group B and C posts in different central government ministries and departments.  The recruitment process consists of 4 tiers – tier I & II are online objective exam while tier III is written descriptive exam. SSC CGL 2017 Inspectors Vacancy

The vacancy for the post of the Inspector (Examiner) is yet to be disclosed by the SSC. This year SSC has come out with some changes in the application process and vacancy disclosure. The post of Inspectors is grouped together and are allotted under category B. Candidates who want to apply for the post of Inspectors need to fill option B as their first preference.

From this year SSC has decided to disclose the vacancies at the latter stages of recruitment process and not at the time of application. The reason could be that many departments and ministries submit their vacancies only after the commencement of recruitment process for that year.

Job profile of Inspector (Examiner)

It as an all-time coastal job, you will be posted in the coastal areas of the country throughout your service tenure. Your main duty would be to assign clearance to goods, access as well as examine goods, obtain samples, examine the cargo, etc.

It is a non-uniform job. There are chances of doing clerical documentation if posted in the headquarters otherwise it would mostly involve field work on the coasts and ports.

The examiner is required to prepare lists of goods after checking them in order to check their market values. An Examiner enjoys power when he/she is posted on port particularly. He would be the signing authority for clearance of goods to prevent movement of any suspicious or illegal goods. Apart from pay commission revision there are Dearness Allowance revisions which are frequent and would be help in upgrading the salary. The DA hike more or less takes place after a year’s gap.

Physical Standards

To be join as an Inspector (Examiner) in CBEC you should be physically and mentally fit as the job involves pressure day in and day out. The minimum physical standards required for the post are mentioned below.

  • Height- 157.5 cm (5cm relaxation for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and STs)
  • Chest- 81 cm (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm)

Female

  • Height – 152 cm (2.5cm relaxation for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and STs)
  • Weight- 48 Kg (2Kgs relaxation for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and STs)

Physical Test

Male

  • Walking: 1600 meters in 15 minutes
  • Cycling: 8Km in 30 Minutes

Female

  • Walking: 1 Km in 20 Minutes
  • Cycling: 3 Km in 25 Minutes
