SSC CHSL 2018 Application Form

SSC CHSL 2018 Application Form will be available tentatively in the month of August. The application process begins after SSC releases the official notification for CHSL exam.

Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) is one of the top level examinations in India conducted by SSC. SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Exam every year to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Data Entry Operators (DEO).

The examination is conducted in  2 parts. Part I is held  held in the month of November-December and part II in the month of March-April. The candidates of Part I are invited to attend Part II.

  • Staff Selection Commission conducts the CHSL exam in two parts.
  • Candidates can fill the form online on the SSC website.
  • Part I is conducted in November-December and Part II is conducted in March-April.
  • CHSL 2018 is conducted for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) & Data Entry Operator (DEO).
  • The total no of vacancies available are 5134 (Tentatively), as per previous records.
  • The candidates are required to register again for Part II after Part I is over.

The posts offered by SSC CHSL 2018 are DEO (Data Entry Officers), LDC (Lower Division Clerk), Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant,and Court Clerks.


SSC CHSL 2018 requires the candidates to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to appear in the exam

Educational Qualifications - Candidates applying for SSC CHSL 2018 Application Form should cleared 12th or its equivalent education from any recognized School/ University.

Age Limit - Candidates applying for the above mentioned  posts in SSC CHSL 2018 must be more than 18 years of age and less than 27 years as on date 01/01/2019 (Candidates born not before 02-01-1990 and not later than 01-01-1999).

How to fill SSC CHSL Application Form

The candidates can apply for SSC CHSL 2018 through both online or offline mode. Candidates must go through the eligibility criteria before they start application procedure.

Online Mode - The candidates can apply through online mode on the official website OR For offline mode of application, candidates should submit their applications in prescribed format only.

Online mode of application- For online mode, the applicants have to go to the official website of SSC. They are required to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature.

Step-wise guide for filling the Application form

Applicants must be very careful while filling the application form. So here is a step-wise guide to avoid mistakes in the form-filling.

  • Applicants must go to the official website of Staff Selection Commission that is
  • On the homepage,  locate the “Notice” column.
  • Select the “Notice- Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2017” link.
  • An instructions page will be opened in PDF format. Read it carefully. This contains the steps to fill the form as well as the eligibility criteria.
  • Make sure that you are eligible for appearing in the exam
  • After reading the complete details, hit on “Apply Online” link.
  • The link will redirect the candidate to the application form for SSC CHSL 2018
  • Fill-in education details and all the other relevant personal details asked in the application form carefully.
  • Then, upload all the relevant certificates and images as demanded in the SSC CHSL Application Form.
  • The size of photograph must be between 4 kb to 12 kb & resolution should be of 100 pixel width by 120 pixels height.
  • The size of signature must be between 1 kb to 12 kb & resolution should be of 140 pixel width by 60 pixels height.
  • After completion of form, check the form and press “Submit” button.
  • After that fees payment window will appear to pay the application fees.

Offline mode of application - Candidates can obtain application forms from the sale centres, prescribed offices or by post. The candidates must send the required documents along with duly filled application form to SSC on or before last date.

Applicants have to register separately for Part II of the exam and it should be done online. The candidates must follow the below mentioned steps for registration

  • Go to the SSC website
  • Click on part-02 registration and fill transaction number.
  • Upload photo and signature.
  • Submit application form.

Application fee

After filling-in the required details and uploading the documents, candidates must submit the application fees

For online applications - For online mode, the candidates can pay either through SBI bank challan (challan can be downloaded, printed & submitted at any CBS branch of SBI) or net banking. Nominal service charges may be levied in net banking mode of payment.

For offline applications - Candidates have to pay Rs. 100 as application fee through CRF stamps. The stamp has to be cancelled before applying it on the form, otherwise the application will not be accepted.

The application fee is exempted for female candidates and all the reserved category candidates.

  • The Recruitment procedure of SSC CHSL consists of two stages- written examination and skill test or typing test.
  • The successful candidates of stage I (written examination) are called for the stage II skill test or typing test.
  • The SSC CHSL 2018 gives an opportunity to eligible candidates to get recruited at the posts of LDC (Lower Division Clerk) and DEO (Data Entry Operator) in numerous central govt. offices.
  • The reserved category candidates will be adjusted against general category vacancies according to their rank in the merit list.
  • The vacancies of reserved categories will be filled individually by eligible candidates of reserved categories only. The tie breaker for candidates scoring same marks will be based on marks in the written examination, DOB; older candidate will be given higher position in the merit list.
