SSC CHSL 2015 Skill Test Dates announced at

Staff Selection Commission posted a notice intimating all the qualified candidates of CHSL LDC/DEO 2015 descriptive test about the upcoming Skill test. The Test will be conducted on multiple dates starting from February 11, 2017. Check Full Notification

The candidates who clear written test of CHSL LDC/DEO 2015 will be called to attempt the skill test. The candidates seeking Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts will have to undergo skill test while the candidates applied Lower Division Clerks (LDC) will have to pass the Typing Test.

Skill Test Pattern

The Candidates are provided with a printed document in English which they are required to type on the computer. The candidates are expected to possess 8000 key depressions per hour on the computer. The duration of CHSL Skill test is 15 minutes. The minimum speed required to clear this round is 2200 strokes/key-depression.

Know about SSC CHSL

Key depressions / strokes are the number of keys candidate presses in the given time. In 15 minutes time, candidates have to press 2000-2200 keys (right words only).

The Skill Test round is mandatory and qualifying in nature. The candidates should clear the round to finally get recruited as Data Entry Operators in various ministries and other central government organisations.

Important points to remember:

I: The Skill Test is mandatory for all the candidates irrespective of their physical standards. No candidate including Physically Handicapped who qualify in the written part of the examination will be exempted from the skill test.

II: (VH) Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be allowed 35 minutes for the skill test.

SSC CHSL Typing Test Pattern

The Typing Test of CHSL Lower Division Clerk (LDC) is conducted only in English or Hindi for the Examination. The candidates are required to indicate their choice for Typing Test Medium in the Application Form.

Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 (wpm) words per minute. The candidates opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 (wpm) words per minute.

35 wpm - 10500 key depressions per hour

30 wpm - 9000 key depressions per hour.

The speed is judged on the accuracy of typing on the computer for a given text passage in 10 minutes. Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) are provided with extra 20 minutes. In English the passage to be typed in 10 minutes has 1750 key depressions and in Hindi it has 900.

Post the successful skill test, qualified candidates are recruited as per their position in the merit list.
