IPPB Recruitment Exam 2016 Preparation Tips & Study Material

The IPPB Recruitment (India Post Payments Bank) drive for the post of Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director, Scales VII & CGM, Chief Technology Officer, etc. is now closed. The exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted in the month of December, 2016 or January, 2017.

IPPB 2016 Exam Pattern

The exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted in the month of December, 2016 or January, 2017. Total questions in IPPB Prelims is 100 to be solved in 1 hour. The questions asked as per IPPB Exam Pattern will be divided into three sections viz. English (30), Quantitative Aptitude (35), and Reasoning Ability (35). Each correct response will provide 1 mark and ¼ marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

In each section of IPPB, candidates are required to obtain a minimum score to clear the sectional cut-off. The candidates who qualify the IPPB Prelims online exam only will be shortlisted for the Mains phase for IPPB 2016 Exam.

The IPPBExam will be conducted in following 3 phases-

IPPB 2016 Preparation Tips

In order to achieve the best score and opportunities, firstly understand completely the entire pattern of the IPPB Examination. Every candidate should keep in mind the following preparation tips:

  1. Expect the unexpected - This is the first time IPPB is conducting the online examination, we cannot predict the type and level of questions that will be asked in the examination. So, expect it to be a little difficult than the rest of your exams. Candidate needs to understand the entire pattern of the examination.
  2. Time management - This parameter is imperative in nature. It will help to clear the IPPB Exam. Manage your time carefully, select the questions you solve first, keeping in mind your stronger areas of study. Time management and question selection are two aspects which are a part of every exam.
  3. Revise - Read and revise all the topics. Make use of short-term techniques to revise the syllabus like Flashcards. This technique of revising the formulae and concept will help in reducing your time of going through the entire syllabus. Make a hbait of making notes wherever required.
  4. Set a goal - Categorization and division of topics as per the assigned time help in achieving your set target. Don’t give too much attention to one part of syllabus and ignore the other. Instead focus on all sections equally.
  5. Practice - Practice as much as you can, it is one of the most important parameters. Take up a book which covers all the topics and makes it a habit to practice till the end. Keep practicing and don’t give up in the middle. As the saying goes, “practice makes a man perfect”. This will boost your confidence.
  6. Read & Be confident - Daily make a habit of reading the newspapers, magazines, novel, etc. All the aspiring candidates should remain calm and composed. Stay composed at all times and losing your piece of mind is not recommended.

How to do section wise Preparation Strategy for IPPB 2016?

English Language: It is one of the important section in any bank exam.  However, it is the least prepared and most candidates are unable to qualify in the end. This should be avoided. Candidate should focus on the following in this section-

  • Vocabulary: To attempt grammar based question, build a strong vocabulary.
  • Time management: Try attempting questions in one go.
  • Reading habit: Daily make a habit of reading the newspapers. It will help you solve reading comprehension passages.

Reasoning Ability: In Reasoning Ability, candidates must focus on the following topics included Inequality, Syllogism, Puzzles, Input-output, Data sufficiency, blood relation etc. If the candidates are weak/ average in this section then make a habit of practicing this section on regular basis. Just plan the schedule to cover all the important topics.

  • Practice: Practice more and more in order to clear basics and score well.
  • Guesswork: Attempt questions only if you’re sure.
  • Exposure: Try number of varied questions from different sources.

Quantitative Aptitude: This section evaluates numerical ability and problem-solving skills of candidates. The key here is to build a strong command-

  • Practice: Keep practicing as many as questions you can.
  • Short cuts: Learn shortcuts in order to save time.
  • Basics: As, this is the first time IPPB conducting the exam. Start preparing from scratch and build strong basics.
  • Formulas: Remember all the important formulas by heart and understand their application.

Computer knowledge: Candidates can do all the questions of this section if their basic knowledge of computer is good. Candidate needs 30 minutes daily practice to master this section. Almost all questions are attemptable. In this section, 20 questions of easy to moderate level are asked. Candidates should focus on the following topics-

  • Database
  • Networking
  • Logic gates
  • History of computers
  • Software

General Awareness: To score maximum marks in this section, read the newspaper everyday. Take out time to read from page to page. Make a note of important events and news. It main focuses on banking awareness. Following topic must be covered by the candidate while preparing for the IPPB Exam-
