KVPY 2019 or Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2019 is a national level exam conducted to provide scholarship up to pre-PhD level to selected candidates. The Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore has been entrusted with the responsibility to conduct the exam. The official notification for KVPY 2019 is expected to release in July 2019. In this article, we discuss the salient features of the program, on the basis of past trends:

  • KVPY Scholarship is awarded to deserving candidates to pursue higher education in the field of basic Sciences starting at the undergraduate level up to pre-research level studies.
  • The courses for which candidates have commonly been awarded the fellowship includes B.Sc., B. Stat, Integrated M.Sc., and M.S in either Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • KVPY 2019 is tentatively scheduled for November 2019, the application form for which will be made available from July till August 2019.
  • The test is held either online or offline; the question paper will consist of 100 objective-type questions to be completed within 180 minutes.
  • KVPY Admit Card will be made available from the second week of October 2019.
  • Post-publication of KVPY 2019 Result in December, shortlisted candidates will have to go through the Interview round.
  • Final Selection for the scholarship will be based on the aptitude test & personal interview.

KVPY 2019 Scholarships

The KVPY Fellowship is awarded to deserving candidates to enrol in the Basic Sciences undergraduate programs. Selected candidates can avail the fellowship amount monthly for the course they opt for. The details of the KVPY Scholarship offered to various candidates is tabulated below:

KVPY 2019 Exam Dates

Since the official notification for KVPY 2019 has not been released yet, in this article, we have structured a tentative event calendar for the same, on the basis of previous years’ trends. Interested applicants are advised to follow the official website for further updates on the exam.

KVPY 2019 Eligibility

It is imperative that the candidates meet the set eligibility conditions of KVPY 2019 or else, their candidature is liable to be rejected. Candidate must be a citizen of India. The Fellowship is awarded for to Indian nationals only for study in India. The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2019 are listed below:

For SA Stream:

  • Candidates studying Science in the 11th standard can apply under this category.
  • The candidates should have studied Mathematics & Science in the 10th standard.
  • Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 75% marks 10th standard (65% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates)

For SX Stream:

  • Candidates who are studying Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) in the 12th standard can apply under this category.
  • The candidates should have studied Mathematics and Science and secured a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in the 10th standard (65% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates).
  • The candidates should be willing to pursue higher studies in Basic Sciences after completion of the 10+2 examination with a minimum aggregate score of 60% (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the Science subjects.

For SB Stream:

  • Undergraduate candidates studying Basic Science program (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology) leading to B.Sc./B. Stat./MS/Integrated M. Sc. can apply under this category.
  • The candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in 10+2 examination (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates).
  • The candidates also must have secured a minimum score of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the 1st year Graduation Final Examination.

KVPY 2019 Application Form

KVPY 2019 Application Process is expected to start in July 2019. KVPY 2019 Application Form can be accessed from the official website only. The steps involved in completing the KVPY 2019 application process is elaborated below:

Step 1: Registration

  • Applicants need to register online on the official website with details as specified.
  • A valid E-mail ID and active Mobile Number is mandatory for KVPY registration as all important information in the context of the application and examination will be communicated to the registered E-Mail ID/Mobile number.
  • Applicants will receive confirmation of registration on the registered E-mail ID/Mobile Number.

Step 2: Filling the details

  • Applicants will have to re-login to the website using the auto-generated username and password.
  • Complete filling in all the personal and academic details as specified.
  • Candidates need to specify their choice of up to three test centers in order of preference.
  • Upload scanned images of applicants’ recent passport-size photograph, and specimen signature in JPG/JPEG format, with file-sizes not exceeding 500 KB and 200 KB respectively. The images should meet the specifications as specified on the Form

Step 3: Payment of Application Fees

  • Candidates can pay the KVPY 2019 Application Fee either online or offline. Please note that, once the payment is successfully completed and the application form submitted, there would be no refund of the fee paid.
  • Candidates are advised to pay attention while entering the details on the Form and preview the same meticulously before final submission as no correction/editing facility is provided.

Please note that:

Upon final submission of the online application, an application number will be auto-generated. Candidates should take a note of the same and obtain prints of the filled-in application form for future references.

KVPY 2019 Application Fee

KVPY 2019 application fee differs according to the category of candidates. The fee structure according to the categories is tabulated below.

The application fee can be paid either online or offline. In the online mode, the fee can be paid through the integrated payment gateway on the KVPY official website, using either Net Banking or Credit/Debit Cards. In the offline mode, an e-Challan has to be downloaded from the same website and fee paid at any Indian nationalized bank branch. Applicants can then enter the details stamped on the challan to complete the KVPY application form on the official website.


KVPY 2019 Admit Card

Applicants who submit the Online Application Form complete in all respects along with the requisite fees will be issued KVPY 2019 Admit Card. The same has to be downloaded from the official website. Please note that there are no other means of accessing the document other than downloading from the website.

KVPY Admit Card is expected to be issued in October 2019 and will carry details like Applicant’s name, Registration Number, Photograph, Date of Birth, Exam Venue, Exam Date, and Timings, etc. Candidates need to carry the Admit Card along with a valid photo ID proof in person to appear for the entrance exam.

The steps involved in downloading the KVPY 2019 Admit Card:

  1. Visit the official website of KVPY.
  2. Click the ‘KVPY 2019 Admit Card’ tab.
  3. Enter login credentials.
  4. The KVPY 2019 Admit Card will be displayed on-screen.
  5. Download, save and obtain prints of the document for future use.

KVPY 2019 Exam Centers

Applicants can, during the application process, specify three choices of exam center from the available list, in order of preference. The allocation of exam center is done by IISC on the basis of candidates’ preferences. However, the authority’s decision in this regard is final and binding on all. Please note that once an exam center is allotted, no request for change will be entertained by IISC.

KVPY 2019 Exam Pattern

KVPY 2019 exam will be conducted in either online or offline mode. Examinees have the option of choosing the language of their papers from either Hindi or English. The question paper is objective type of 100 marks and the time allotted to complete the same is 180 minutes.

The test would be split into two sections, Part I and Part II, with four sub-sections in each. KVPY question paper is designed separately for two categories: Category SA and Category SB/SX. Candidates do not have a choice of questions in the Category SA question paper while Category SB/SX candidates can choose to attempt any three sections in PART I and any two sections in PART II of their question Paper.

KVPY 2019 Syllabus

There is no specific syllabus outlined for KVPY. The test attempts to evaluate candidates’ depth of subject knowledge as well as analytical ability. Questions are based on the syllabus of 10th & 12th standards/First year of B. Sc./Integrated M. Sc./Integrated M.S., as applicable. The website also hosts previous years’ question papers along with the answer keys which the candidates can access for practice purpose.


KVPY 2019 Result

KVPY 2019 Result will be announced by IISC in the first week of December 2019 through online mode. Candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process after the declaration of result.

  • Enter Username and password.
  • Check the details on the KVPY 2019 Results
  • Download and take printout of KVPY 2019 Results

KVPY 2019 Merit List

Upon declaration of KVPY Result 2019, separate merit list for every stream will be released by IISC. The merit list will be based on the candidates’ performance in the written test. Ranking of the merit list will be in the descending order of total marks scored in the written exam.

KVPY Merit List will be available category-wise, mentioning names and application numbers of qualifying candidates. The shortlisted candidates in the written exam will be shortlisted for KVPY 2019 Selection Process. Candidates will be informed and will be called for the interview round.


KVPY 2019 Cut Off

KVPY 2019 Cut Off list will be published in the online mode by the Indian Institute of Science after the result declaration. The qualifying marks to clear the KVPY exam is given below.

KVPY 2019 Selection Process

Candidates will be called for the selection procedure on the basis of their performance in the KVPY 2019 written Test. The selection process will comprise interview round which will be held in the third week of January 2019.

Candidates will be informed about interview dates, time & venue through email/website. After the successful completion of entrance exam & interview round, the scholarship will be provided to the successful candidates. They have to bring the following documents along with the interview call letter:

Hi Deepak, SA, SX and SB are the streams of KVPY exam. These streams are used as an eligibility criterion. If the Candidate studying in class XI, he/She will opt for the exam under SA stream or if the Candidate studying in class XII, he/She will opt for the exam under SX stream or if the candidate have completed a diploma in any science course/studying in the first year of the graduation may opt through SB stream.
