The Ace Exam for Banking, IBPS PO is one of the most sought after Recruitment Exam for recruitment of Probationary Officer/Management Trainee for various participating public sector banks. The national level exam is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS) in a two tier levels followed by Group Discussion & Personal Interview. The GD & PI is scheduled at the respective Selection Centre in presence of the Interviewing Panel.

There is a very high level of competition in the exam with over 20 lakh candidates appearing for the preliminary exam. The total number of vacancies for candidates appearing in the IBPS PO exam is 8822. The number of vacancies vary according to the category of the candidate and the participating organisation which include Public Sector Banks and other Financial Institutions.

This section cannot be prepared in a day’s practice but requires consistent effort. The syllabus is based on the class 10th level and the exam basically tests the grammatical skills of the candidates. IBPS PO Preparation Tips

IBPS PO is a highly competitive exam, and candidates must approach the exam with proper planning. The syllabus remains the same for both the preliminary and mains examination, but the difference is, primarily has the increased level of difficulty. Also, the focus of the preparation should change to speed more than accuracy moving from preliminary stage to mains. Moreover, candidates must try to solve as many mock tests as possible.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

This is the first phase of the examination. The test will be held in online mode. The entire paper has to be completed on 1 hour (60 minutes), with no sectional time limit. It consists of 3 sections in total, as follows: English, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. There shall be 100 questions in the paper, which will be in MCQ format. Candidates who clear the IBPS PO 2016 Exam would be called to appear in the IBPS PO Mains 2016 Exam.

IBPS PO has a provision of negative marking, in both pre and mains exams. For every correct answer, candidates shall be awarded 1 mark, whereas 0.25 marks shall be deducted for every incorrect answer.

IBPS PO Mains & Selection Process

The candidates who have been able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in the IBPS PO Pre and meet the IBPS PO Cutoff will be eligible for IBPS PO Mains.

The next level of selection process will be Group Discussion & Personal Interview. The total marks allotted for Interview is 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for the interview will not be less than 40% marks (35% marks for the reserved category).

The final IBPS PO Combined Scored would be declared on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination of CWE PO/MT – VI and Interview. The weightage ratio for the selection process would be as 80:20 for the above.

A candidate be able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in each section and score well in both IBPS PO Main and interview in order to get shortlisted for provisional allotment process.
