STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
Counselling for KMAT 2017 Kerala is expected to be conducted in May 2017. The Counselling will be conducted for all qualified students of KMAT Kerala Phase II exam scheduled on April 02. The Counselling will take place in multiple rounds post announcement of KMAT Kerala 2017 Result. The Seats are allocated in each round through merit-cum preference basis. The candidates are provided with Seat Allotment letter to provisionally allot the seats. Upon receiving the letter, candidates are required to reach their institutes and complete the Admission process.
Kerala Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is one the premier exam for admission to MBA programs offered by various government and private management institutes and Business schools in the state of Kerala. The exam is conducted by Admission supervisory committee (ASC), Kerala in offline mode that is pen and paper mode.
The exam is conducted in two stages. The first stage of KMAT Kerala involves an objective test of 2 hours 30 minutes (prior to this year 3 hours were allotted). Candidates are tested for their abilities in quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, English, and general knowledge. The paper is divided into four sections namely English language & Reading Comprehension, Quantitative aptitude, Data sufficiency & logical reasoning, and general knowledge and contemporary business scenario. There will be a total of 180 questions(50 each from English and quantitative aptitude, and 40 each from logical reasoning & data sufficiency and Gk and contemporary business scenario) of 720 marks.
Those candidates who will clear the minimum stipulated cut-off set by ASC, Kerala would advance to the second stage of the exam. The second stage of the exam is a GD/Interview round. Final merit list would be prepared after the completion of both the stages of the exam.
The exam is held in two phases meaning that the exam cycle is repeated twice a year. The first phase of the exam cycle started in November 2016 and the scorecards for the same has been made available on the successful completion of exam cycle. Recently the stage one (written exam) of the second phase of the exam cycle was conducted (Sunday, April 2, 2017). Candidates who appeared for KMAT 2017 on Sunday would be now interested in the details about the counselling process and seat allotment process. To ease you a bit we will here share the important details regarding counselling and seat allotment process of KMAT 2017.
Candidates who will qualify both the stages of the KMAT 2017 that is written as well as GD/Interview would be allowed to take part in the counselling process. Candidates have to apply to the college/institutes on an individual basis and there would be no choice locking type system. There would be a different cut-off for various participating institutes. A list of some top participating colleges/universities is provided below.
Candidates having valid CAT/CMAT score can also apply to the colleges participating under KMAT 2017. There would be a certain weightage assigned to each stage of exam that is written test, GD, and Interview, which would be considered at the time of admission and counseling. The weightage assigned is in the ratio 80:10:10 for written exam, GD, and Interview respectively.
Candidates from general category would be required to obtain a minimum of 15% marks (108 Marks) out of 720 in order to qualify for the GD/Interview round. Whereas the same percentage for socially and economically backward class (SEBC) and SC/ST candidates is 10% (72 Marks) and 7.5% (54 Marks) respectively.
The counselling process for KMAT 2017 would begin once the final results are announced and merit list is prepared. The date would be announced via a notification by ASC. As per estimates the results are expected to be announced in the month of May and the counselling would began somewhere in mid of June or end of June. Candidates who will clear the exam by obtaining the minimum cut-off marks or more than that would be allowed to participate in the counselling process. Qualified candidates can apply to the colleges/university (on individual basis) in case they satisfy the cut-off criteria set by that particular university/college. Those candidates who will be allotted a seat in the college/university of their choice would then have to undergo the document verification process, before going for admission formalities.
Candidates are required to carry a set of following documents at the time of applying to the college/university and at the time of document verification.
Candidates should keep a set of these documents ready (both in original and photocopy) for each stage of counselling and admission process.
Seat allotment in the colleges participating in KMAT 2017 would be done on the basis of the performance and standing of the candidate in KMAT 2017 exam and merit list respectively. A merit list of all the qualified candidates would be prepared after the GD/Interview rounds are over. Based on these ranks admissions will take place in various colleges/university under KMAT 2017. Candidates having valid CAT score would also be eligible for participating in the counselling and seat allotment process of KMAT 2017.
