NEET Result 2016 Declared

The NEET 2016 Results for both Phase 1 and 2 is now declared. The wait is over for the candidates who had appeared for the NEET Exam 2016. The exam was held in two phases after the ruling of the Honourable Supreme Court saying that the NEET will be the entrance exam for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The candidates who appeared for either of the phases (Phase 1 or Phase 2) of the NEET Exam can check their results by entering the login details on the official website:

Aspirants must note that the NEET 2016 Results is now displayed on the result page for only those candidates who secured the minimum qualifying marks in the exam.

The aspirants who make it to the NEET 2016 Merit list by attaining the minimum qualifying marks will be eligible to sit for the subsequent sessions of counselling. Another point to note, for the aspirants, is that as per the merit list and NEET 2016 cutoff, aspirants will be called for 15% All India Quota seats counselling. The seats will be allocated to qualifying candidates after the completion of the counselling session based on their merit.

NEET Results 2016

Students must keep the following important points in mind to get better clarity about the result declaration of NEET exam 2016:

  • A merit list/wait list will be prepared by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi (CBSE) as per the directives of the Honourable Supreme Court of India, DGHS, MCI and DCI.
  • Students must take note that no separate category wise result sheet will be prepared.
  • The CBSE has released CBSE NEET 2016 on its official website.
  • The students may download the Result Sheets for future uses.
  • All the candidates who took the NEET Exam 2016 must regularly check the websites of CBSE, MOHFW, Medical Counselling Committee ( and Participating States/Universities/ Institutions till the final round of Counselling.
  • The results of All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test/ National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test will be preserved for a duration of 60 days from the date of declaration of the result.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in which is conducted annually for admissions to Medical and Dental courses in government or private medical colleges across the country. admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The NEET Exam was held in two phases this year. The NEET 2016 Phase 1 Exam was successfully held on May 1, 2016 and the Phase 2 Exam was conducted on July 24, 2016.

Rules for Re-Checking/Re-Evaluation

Below are the important points one must keep in mind regarding re-evaluation and re-checking of answer sheets:

  • The CBSE claims that the machine – gradable Answer Sheets are checked and evaluated with extreme care and are repeatedly examined.
  • Students must remember that CNSE offers no facility of re-checking or re-evaluating the answer sheets.
  • No such requests by the aspirants will be entertained by the board.

NEET 2016 Counselling

The NEET 2016 Counselling will be conducted after the results are declared. The seats will be allocated to students based on their merit/rank in the exam.

Counselling for seats under 15% All India Quota

The All India Quota Rank is the rank for allotting the seats of All India Quota, after excluding candidates from Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). According to the guidelines of the Honourable Supreme Court, the aspirants from AP and J&K are not eligible to take part for 15 % All India Quota Counselling. Candidates can find the full description of the same in the clause 9 of the Information Bulletin of AIPMT for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses published by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). 

The candidates must note the following points regarding the counselling for the seats under 15% All India Quota:

  • The counselling will be conducted by the MCC of Directorate General of Health Services. It will be an online procedure.
  • Candidates can find all the details for online counselling on the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) official website: Candidates are advised to regularly check the mentioned website for updated information regarding the online counselling.

Counselling for seats other than 15% All India

Students who wish to apply for admission in State Medical Colleges/Universities/Institutions through the merit list of NEET Exam 2016 should follow the guidelines of the State Government and/or authorities of the medical/dental colleges /Institution/University concerned for counselling.

Process of online seat allotment

The seats will be allotted on the basis of merit to each qualifying candidate. The candidates must follow the below mentioned steps for the counselling process:

  • Registration of the candidate on the counselling website. The candidates will have to fill their personal details to successfully register themselves on the website.
  • The next step is that of Exercising of Choices, indicative seats and Locking of choices.
  • Round 1 of Seat Allotment (this is a computer based process conducted by identified agency for MCC).
  • Result declaration of Round 1.
  • Reporting at the allotted Medical/Dental College for candidates qualifying in the 1st Round of counselling.
  • After the completion of Round 1 of counselling, the details vacant seats will be displayed.
  • The candidates who are eligible for the Round 2 of counselling can then fill in Fresh Choices.
  • Round 2 of seat allotment.
  • Result declaration of Round 2.
  • Reporting at the Medical / Dental Colleges /Institutions for candidates qualifying Round 2.
  • Completion of 15 % All India Counselling.
