Nagaland NEET Counselling 2017

CBSE conducts NEET for MBBS/ BDS admissions on a PAN (India) basis. NEET 2017 is the unified medical entrance exam for medical/ dental colleges across India. The medical colleges of Nagaland will accept NEET 2017 scores for admission to the offered seats. 15% of the total seats will be open to All India candidates and 85% seats will be reserved under the State Quota.  

  • Nagaland MBBS 2017 Admissions through NEET is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima, Nagaland.
  • CBSE issues two merit lists after the declaration of NEET 2017 results (23rd June, 2017). One list is dedicated towards admissions of candidates who have applied under All India Quota (15%).
  • Along with the All India Quota merit list, separate state wise merit list is also released by CBSE.
  • Admissions into Nagaland MBBS courses are done based on the rankings of candidates in this state wise merit list. 

To initiate NEET Counselling procedure after declaration of results and merit lists, candidates must complete the online counselling registration and pay the required counselling fees. This must then be followed by submitting of documents for verification and online choice filling and locking.

It is important for candidates to learn about all the important dates relating to NEET 2017 Nagaland State Counselling. The application form for NEET 2017 Nagaland State Counselling is expected to release in July 2017. All other key dates are mentioned in the below table:

Nagaland MBBS 2017 Counselling Process

Only those candidates who have successfully cleared the cut off in NEET 2017 are eligible to apply for counselling.

The following steps constitute the counselling and admission procedure.

  1. Online Registration

The first step is to visit the official website and complete the registration part. Candidates need to submit personal and educational details along with information about NEET 2017 Scores. Candidates will be issued a username and password which they must use for further steps.

  1. Document Verification

Candidates must then submit all the necessary documents along with the required number of photocopies to complete the verification procedure.

  1. Online Choice Filling

Candidates must then fill out their choices of courses and institutes in the online portal. Candidates must carefully check if they are sure of their choices before locking their choices. Candidates can then take a print out of the filled in options form for future reference.

Next step is the seat allotment followed by the issue of allotment letter. Based on the choices filled in by candidates, their ranks in the state wise merit list and seats reservation for categories, candidates are allotted seats. 

Aspirants need to visit the institute mentioned in the allotment letter along with the documents and the provisional allotment letter to complete the admission procedure.

If candidates are not satisfied with allotted seats, they can apply for second round of counselling. Even candidates who have not been allotted seats can apply for the next round of counselling. In the following rounds of counselling, seats are allotted based on availability.

Documents Required for Counselling 

The following documents are required at the time of reporting to the allotted institute for proper conduct of verification and other processes. It is advisable to carry a set of photocopies of the following documents.

  • Provisional allotment letter
  • CBSE NEET 2017 Admit Card
  • NEET 2017 Scorecard.
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet (as proof of date of birth).
  •  Class 12th Certificate.
  • Receipt of Counselling Fee.
  • Counselling Registration Form.
  • 8 Passport size photographs.
  • Government approved Photo Identity proof.
  • SC/ ST/ OBC certificate (if applicable).
  • PH (Physically Handicapped) Certificate issued by the medical authority (if applicable).

Nagaland MBBS 2017 Cut off

Candidates can know about the cut off that needs to be cleared by taking last year’s cut off as reference.

Ques. How many times can a candidate appear for NEET?

Answer. Three times.

Ques. Is NEET 2017 compulsory for admissions into the participating institutes offering MBBS/BDS courses in Nagaland?

Answer. For institutes that use the state wise merit list released by CBSE after declaration of NEET 23017 results as a basis for admissions, it is compulsory for candidates to attempt NEET 2017 and secure the necessary minimum percentile in NEET 2017.

Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for applying for admissions in Nagaland MBBS 2017?

Answer. If candidates seek admissions on the basis of NEET 2017, they must satisfy the below criteria.

  • Candidates must check for their eligibility before applying.
  • Candidates must be between 17 years and 25 years. Upper age limit relaxation of 5 years is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
  • Candidates must have passed 12th State Board Examination (or Equivalent) or must have appeared for exam that year.
  • Candidates must have studied Physics, Biology and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with 50% aggregate (40% in case of reserved candidates).
  • Candidates must have appeared for NEET 2017 and must have secured the minimum percentile (50 in case of unreserved, 40in case of reserved).

Ques. Is there only one round of counselling or are there more sessions conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland?

Answer. Based on the seats vacancy, up to three rounds of counselling are conducted.

Ques. How are admissions into MBBS courses in Nagaland based on NEET 2017 conducted?

Answer. Two weeks post the declaration of NEET 2017 results; CBSE releases a state wise merit list for admissions into the 85% of seats that come under the state wise category.

  • Candidates must then visit the official state website and register by filling all necessary details.
  • Pay the counselling fee and keep the receipt safely.  After submitting essential documents for verification, candidates must proceed with the online choice filling and locking.
  • Seats are allotted on the basis of NEET scores and seats available.
  • If candidates are not content with seats allotted to them, they can apply for subsequent rounds of counselling.
