NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling

Through the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling, seats will be allotted to the qualifying candidates of NEET in Karnataka, following the declaration of the NEET Result 2017. Until 2016, seats were allotted on the basis of a candidate’s performance in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test. These State-level medical exams were conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to fill the MBBS/ BDS seats in various colleges. As per the new directive by the Supreme Court of India, nowNEET acts as the single medical entrance exam in our country. 85% of the state quota seats in Karnataka will be filled through the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling and 15% of the All India Quota seats will be filled by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).  

The NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling will be organized by the Karnataka Examination Authority. Nearly 8325 seats are likely to be filled this year through the NEET Counselling. Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying NEET score will be eligible to take part in the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling. For participating in the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling, candidates are required to fill a separate application form which will be released in June 2017. NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling: Eligibility

The NEET 2017 Eligibility Criteria for the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling are given below:

  • Candidates should have passed class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as their subjects from Karnataka board.
  • Candidates must have aggregate score of least 50%. Reserved category candidates are given a relaxation of 10% in the aggregate score.
  • Candidates must have secured at least 50 percentile in NEET (40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC category).
  • Applicants should be medically fit as per the physical standard eligibility rules.
  • The candidate’s minimum age should be 17 years as on December 31, 2016.
  • Candidates must have a domicile of origin in Karnataka. Applicants whose parents are working in Karnataka as Govt. of India employee/s are also eligible for admission.

NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling Schedule

The NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling is a two-way process. For the All India quota seats, NEET Counseling shall be the gateway. For admitting candidates through the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling, the Karnataka State Authority will be organizing the counseling in the online mode. Before registering for the respective counseling processes, candidates need to make sure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria for both the counseling processes, i.e. the NEET 2017 eligibility criteria and the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling.

The application form for the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling will be made available online. Candidates would be notified of the counseling process’ dates after the NEET 2017 has been conducted. Candidates can apply for the same by checking whether they qualify for the merit list which shall be declared with a category- wise bifurcation of the cutoff marks.

NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling: Selection Procedure

All candidates should have secured the minimum cutoff marks to pass the NEET, in order to get admission to medical or dental courses. Subsequently, candidates can apply online for the counseling process. The bifurcation of All- India seats is done as follows:

  • Counseling for 15% of the All India Quota seats will be organized by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • Counseling for 85% of the State Quota seats shall be organized by the respective colleges through their own counseling processes.

In order to get admission, it is mandatory for the candidates to apply for the NEET Counselling and confirm their seats for their chosen MBBS or BDS courses. There are approximately 8325 seats on offer.

Until last year, admission into the medical and dental colleges of Karnataka was provided on the basis of the Karnataka State’s Common Entrance Examination (KCET). However, from this year onwards, the admission to all the medical/ dental colleges is being offered through the NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling. It is compulsory for the candidates to have qualified NEET 2017 and subsequently appear for the appropriate counselling process in order to be eligible for the colleges listed above.

Now NEET 2017 is the only exam for admission to the medical/ dental colleges across the Karnataka State. It is conducted by the CBSE. The medical entrance exam will be held this year on May 7, 2017.​ NEET Result 2017 is expected to be declared on June 8, 2017. Candidates are required to undergo the online NEET 2017 Karnataka State Counselling process in order to get admission in the medical/ dental colleges of Karnataka. The rounds of counselling shall begin in the month of May, 2017.

Hi Manish, The NEET Entrance Exam is a national level entrance test for MBBS/BDS admissions after class 12. if you want to get admission in best college for MBBS, you need to appear for this exam and Admission to medical courses will now be done through NEET, as directed by the Supreme Court.
