NEET 2018 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
CBSE released the official notification for NEET 2018 on February 8 at www.cbseneet.nic.in. The coordinating body has made several changes in the eligibility criteria making Aadhaar Card mandatory to apply for NEET. The last date to register for the examination is March 9, 2018.
Nearly 12 lac aspirants will apply online for NEET 2018, scheduled for May 6. At the time of filling the form and uploading of documents as per the guidelines, candidates have to enter their Aadhaar Card details. In case of any mismatch, the application will be rejected.
Until last year, only Aadhaar Card number was needed. But from this year, candidates will have to mention their name, date of birth and gender as well. The Central Board of Secondary Education has mapped the Aadhaar details of aspirants with UIDAI website. The 12-digit unique identification (UID) number is serving as the base for NEET and for many other key examinations such as CAT and JEE Main. CheckOfficial Aadhaar Card Notification for NEET 2018
While filling in the application form, one must enter their 12-digit UID number. Earlier, the verification and attendance were made individually and manually by matching faces with NEET admit card. Now, the entire process will be automated through a biometric attendance system. During the exam, fingerprints of the candidates can be collected and matched with the one stored with the Aadhaar server.
Officials welcome the change and opportunity to make the exams tech-savvy. “It takes just a few minutes to verify whether he or she is the right candidate or not. It’s easy and safe,” said an official.
Another parallel being drawn is the organizing authority. Like JEE-Main, both NEET and NET are being conducted by CBSE and replicating the success should not be a problem. Candidates who are still without their Aadhaar card need not fret. The card can be applied for before filling out the forms for examination, in such case the 28-digit Aadhaar registration receipt will be used for validation.
