MAH MCA CET (DTE MAHARASHTRA) 2017 NEWS

STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST

MAH MCA CET is a state level entrance examination which is organized by DTE, Maharashtra. This exam is conducted for admission to first/ second year in MCA program across various colleges of Maharashtra. It is scheduled on March 19, 2017.

MAH MCA CET 2017 will be conducted online at all examination centers which will include Multiple Choice Objective type questions (MCQs). The question paper for the CET will be set in English only. Translations in any other languages will not be available.

General aptitude section can be scored easily in **MAH MCA CET 2017** and it is divided into two portions: Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability. Verbal ability questions can be answered quickly compared to the numerical ability questions. Numerical Ability questions are easier than verbal but may consume time if you do not apply short-cuts in computations.

Online CET would be comprised of 2 online papers of 100 marks each with composite time of 90 minutes’ duration viz. General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC). Each paper has 25 questions and is expected to be completed in 90 minutes. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark. Unanswered questions will carry 0 marks.

The examination is conducted in multiple sections in the MAH MCA CET 2017 Exam Centers. The number of sections in the examination has been updated to two since 2014. The two sections in the MAH MCA CET 2017 are as follows:

General Aptitude (GA) - This section comprises of the questions to test the general aptitude of the candidate required to pursue a computer application and software based profession.

Computer Concepts (CC) - This section tests the computer based basic knowledge and basics of operating systems.

MAH MCA CET exam consists of the following given subjects:

The objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue computer applications and software profession. General aptitude section is easier to score than computer concepts section. It consists of 25 questions. It will be of 100 marks. It comprises verbal ability, logical reasoning, algebra, co- ordinate geometry, differential equations, trigonometry, mensuration, set theory, relations & functions, probability and statistics topics. The main objective of this section is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer application profession.

The questions in this paper will consist of logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability.

*Algebra:*

Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, Quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations.

*Co-ordinate Geometry:*

Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid-point, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.

*Differential equations:*

Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.

*Trigonometry:*

Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function.

*Probability and Statistics:*

Basic concepts of probability theory, averages, dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, binomial, poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression.

*Arithmetic:*

Ratios and proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.

**Set theory and functions:**

Set, relations and mappings.

*Mensuration:*

Areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes and surface areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.

*English Grammar*: Prepare the questions such as finding the grammatically correct and incorrect sentences, also finding correctly and incorrectly spelt words.*Sentence Completion*: Practice the questions such as completing the sentence by choosing most appropriate word.*Verbal Analogies*: Identify the relationship between the given words in the group.*Word Groups*: These questions often use synonyms and antonyms (words which have either the same or opposite meanings), dictionary definitions and word pairs.*Instructions*: Answer the questions based only on the information that you are given. Such kind of questions are easy to answer but information is given in the question should be read carefully.*Critical Reasoning & Verbal Deduction*: It tests your ability to take a series of facts expressed in words and to understand and manipulate the information to solve a specific problem. (Assumptions, Inferences, strengthen or weaken the argument, etc.)

Spelling, grammar, Sentence completion, pair of related words, synonyms, antonyms, and verbal deductions.

*Numerical Computation*: It involves the basic principles of arithmetic like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

*Numerical Estimation*: It tests the individual’s ability of solving straightforward questions as fast as they could. It depends on how fast each individual answer.

*Numerical Reasoning*: These kinds of questions are answered based on the reasoning done on the information provided. Such reasoning is based on real time scenarios like financial data etc.

*Critical reasoning*: Information is provided that requires you to interpret it and then apply the appropriate logic to answer the questions.

*Data Interpretation*: It determines a person's ability to extract the correct data from tables, graphs and charts.
