NEST 2018 Merit List

NEST Merit List is well-defined by considering the scores of general sections along with the scores of top 3-sections from the topics (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). The section in which applicant scores less marks, will be removed from merit list calculation. On the basis of ranks secured in NEST, a merit list is prepared. Applicants are then called for counselling.

In case, two or more applicants secure similar marks then there exists a tie. Tie-breaker condition is used to break the tie:

  • In case two applicants secure identical marks in the examination, the candidates with greater score in the general section will get a better rank.
  • If the tie condition still persists, then the scores achieved in the other sections will also be compared. The candidate with higher score in any of the subject section would get a better rank.
  • If the tie still continues to persist, then the respective candidates would be given same provisional rank at the time of declaration of the result and the tie will be broken by equating marks obtained in class 12th and date of birth in that order, during the time of admission/counseling.
