NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
NEST is a nationally conducted exam held for admission to NISER, Bhubaneshwar and UM-DAE, CBS, Mumbai. Through this exam, candidates are admitted to 5 year integrated MSc. Program in basic sciences. Students who have either completed XII or are awaiting their result can appear for NEST. NEST exam is conducted immediately after JEE Advance, and many candidates who appear for JEE Advance also sit for NEST.

While for those candidates who have appeared for JEE Advance, there is no need for a separate preparation, as NEST follows the same syllabus as JEE Main & Advance. But for candidates who were not qualified for JEE Advance, the time gap could be an added asset.
The NEST 2016 exam is scheduled for May 28, 2016. With only a few days left, it is time to stop preparing and start revising. NEST exam is known for its emphasis on concepts and the questions asked majorly test a candidate’s understanding of basic concepts in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

If you go through previous year papers for NEST, you will realize that having mastered all the basic concepts in Science and Mathematics will help you secure a good rank. The NEST paper consists of MCQ type questions. There are five sections – General Ability, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Out of these General Ability is compulsory. The final result is declared on the basis of marks scored in best 3 sections.

Below are some tips on how to revise for NEST 2016 in the last leg of the preparation:
The most logical course to follow now is to solve as many mock tests and practice papers as you can. These will help you achieve an ease and familiarity with the pattern of the examination. While solving practice papers, keep a tab on questions which you could not answer or which got wrong. Analyze such questions and practice the concepts involved with such questions again.

As explained earlier also, NEST is all about mastering the basic concepts. After solving 5-10 practice papers and previous year papers, make a list of the topics and concepts which are repeated. Once your list is ready, go through the concepts again and revise them regularly.
For General Aptitude paper, stay updated on the current affairs and go through a reference book. You can buy any basic reference book for general aptitude available in market. You do not need to worry too much about this paper. Just devote 30 minutes every day to revising what you have learnt.
