TANCET MCA 2017 exam was successfully conducted on March 25, 2017. The Exam had 4 sections viz. quantitative ability, analytical ability, logical reasoning and computer awareness. The candidates had to attempt 100 questions in 2 hours. As per the marking scheme of TANCET, 1 mark was awarded for every correct answer and 1/3 marks were deducted for every incorrect response. No marks were awarded or deducted for questions not attempted.

TANCET MCA Result will be formed on the basis of the normalized score and raw score. The merit list for the MCA program will be prepared on the basis of the TANCET score secured by the candidate. The candidates will be invited for the TANCET MCA Counselling on the basis of marks scored by them in the exam. Any later entries will not be entertained. The candidates who are allotted seat through the TANCET counselling process have to deposit a DD of INR 5000 at their respective allotted college and along with other admission formalities.

TANCET MCA seat allotment will be done following the rules laid down by the state government. Approximately 69% of seats are reserved for SC/ST/ SCA candidates, while the rest are available for the candidates from other states.

TANCET MCA Dates 2017

While preparing for TANCET MCA exam, candidates must keep in mind all the important exam dates. TANCET events will be following the structures given below:

TANCET MCA Cutoff 2017

The TANCET 2017 cut offs for each course will be different and the TANCET MCA 2017 Cut off will be declared once the result for 2017 are announced.

The TANCET 2017 Expected MCA Cutoff list depends on the number of candidates appearing for the examination and the minimum score consideration by various institutions. The scores obtained by candidates in TANCET 2017 decides the rank of the candidate. The table below mentions the expected ranks corresponding to the scores obtained by the candidates:


TANCET MCA Result 2017

The TANCET 2017 result will be declared by the first week of July 2017, this will be followed by TANCET 2017 Counselling. The candidates must keep a copy of all the important documents ready before the commencement of the counselling process. The TANCET 2017 MCA Result can be checked online on the official website once the result is declared.

TANCET MCA Score calculation formulae

The Raw scores (Marks obtained by the candidate) and the normalized scores obtained by the candidate will form the basis of the actual score obtained by the candidate. The scores are calculated as follows:

  1. Raw score: Score obtained in Part1 (Quantitative ability) +Part2 (Analytical ability) +Part3 (Logical reasoning) + Part4 (Computer awareness) in TANCET 2017 exam.
  2. Normalized score: The mean marks are not yet released so the candidate must be aware of the formula used for calculating normalized score: 40 + (10/S)(R-M).

TANCET 2017 MCA Merit list 

The TANCET MCA 2017 merit list will be prepared on the basis of the TANCET result or score card. The candidate must keep in mind the following guidelines for preparation of merit list:

  1. The score obtained by the candidate in the TANCET 2017 MCA exam.
  2. The reservation rules as laid down by the government of Tamil Nadu.
  3. The Tie breaking criteria will be used for breaking any tie (equal score of two candidates).

TANCET MCA 2017 Tie- Breaking criteria

While preparing the merit list in case a tie occurs, the candidate who has secured higher marks in the prefinal / semester / year and having a higher average percentage of marks up to pre-final semester/year of the qualifying examination will be ranked above.

TANCET MCA Counselling 2017

The TANCET 2017 MCA counselling will be conducted approximately by the end of July 2017. The candidates will be invited according to the TANCET MCA merit list. The following rules must be kept in mind while coming for the TANCET 2017 MCA Counselling:

  1. Candidates will not be provided any travelling allowance or any risk cover will be given for counselling.
  2. The candidates who have passed all the exams of the qualifying examination are permitted to attend the counselling. In case, the result is awaited, the admission will be provisional.
  3. The candidates who will be late for the counselling will not be entertained later.
  4. The candidates who have been allotted seats through the TANCET 2017 counselling have to submit a DD of INR 5000 at college immediately else the admission will be cancelled.
  5. The candidates need to submit the provisional mark sheet/ original mark sheet by September 2017. The candidates who fail to submit the mark sheet will not be allowed to continue the course even if they have cleared the TANCET admission test.

TANCET MCA Seat Allotment 2017

The TANCET 2017 seat allotment will be done on the basis of the counselling where the reservation rules will be followed. The seats are allocated to SC/ST/SCA categories account for 69% of total seats. The new rules of the reservation released prior to counselling will be exercised at the time of TANCET 2017 counselling. The reservation percentage for each of the categories is as follows:

TANCET MCA Eligibility 2017

Through the TANCET 2017 exam the candidate can enrol in the MCA course and the MCA (lateral entry) program.  The eligibility criteria for both the courses are different.

Eligibility criteria TANCET MCA course:

  • Candidate must have completed a graduation degree from a recognized University. The course duration must be 3 years.
  • The candidate must have had mathematics as the major subject in class 12 or graduation level.
  • The candidates of reserved category must have cleared the examination with 50% marks and the non-reserved category candidates must have cleared the exam with 45% marks.

Eligibility criteria TANCET MCA course (Lateral entry):

  • The candidate must have completed the BCA/ B.Sc.(Computer Science/ Information Technology) from a recognized university.
  • Mathematics subject must have been cleared in class 12 or graduation examination.
  • The minimum percentage marks are 50% for the general category students and 45% marks for reserved category students.

TANCET MCA Application Form 2017

The TANCET MCA Application Form 2017 for MCA program is made available online. The candidates have to go through a 3-step process of TANCET registration followed by filling the application form and the last step is the payment of TANCET application fee. The steps were as follows:

Step 1: TANCET 2017 registration (MCA programme):

  1. Open the official website and click on TANCET 2017 registration link.
  2. Click on “New User”.
  3. Provide the details of name, email id, phone number and date of birth.
  4. Then generate a password.

Step2.  Filling the online application form

  1. Login to the application portal after completing the registration step with your unique user ID and password.
  2. Fill all the academic details and upload the photograph. The JPEG format is accepted and size must be less than 200 KB.
  3. Check all the details before clicking on the “Submit” button.

TANCET MCA Exam Centres 2017 

The TANCET 2017 MCA exam was conducted in 15 major cities. The candidates were advised visit the TANCET 2017 exam centre prior to the actual exam date. In case, any TANCET center was to cancel due to some reasons, candidates were to be allotted other exam center for their exam.

TANCET MCA Exam Pattern 2017

The candidates appeared for the TANCET 2017 MCA exam in offline mode on March 25, 2017. The candidates were provided with OMR (optical mark response) sheets in which candidates were to circle their responses properly with the pen. The circles colored improperly were not counted. The candidates had to attempt 100 questions in 2 hours

TANCET MCA Admit Card 2017

TANCET 2017 Admit Card could be downloaded from official website before the MCA exam date. The admit card was available from March 14, until March 24, 2017. The candidates were to bring their TANCET Admit Card with themselves at the TANCET 2017 Exam Centers. The candidates without admit card were not allowed to appear for the TANCET exam which took place on March 27, 2017. Steps to download the TANCET 2017 admit card were as follows:

  1. Open the official website:
  2. Click on the sub-link which reads as TANCET 2017 admit card.
  3. Once you click on the link, this link will take you to a new page where you will have to provide your registration number and date of birth.
  4. On providing the email id and password the candidate will have his/her admit card on display.
  5. The candidate must download the TANCET 2017 MCA admit card and take a print out for future use.

Issuing of Duplicate admit card 

In case, TANCET MCA admit card were tampered because of any physical damage, you could get a new admit card issued from the office.  This required candidate to get a DD of INR 100 in name of the Anna University.
