From 33%, the weightage has now dropped down by 6%. It was believed that the SNAP Exam used to consider the Analytical and Logical Reasoning as one of the major sections and put greater emphasis on it. Earlier, this section carried 1/3 part of the total paper score (180 marks) i.e. 30 MCQ’s of 60 marks. However, with the revision in its weightage, the total paper score of the SNAP Test has been reduced to 150 marks and the total weightage of the Logical section has been reduced from 60 marks to 40 marks, out of 150 maximum score in SNAP 2016.
Despite the steep fall, the reasoning section remains of key importance and significance. It will remain to play a key role in terms of its weightage. This section needs to be prepared with as much dedication as others. A candidate can vouch for good marks if he dully focusses on this section with all his hardwork.
Dr. Raman, Director of SIBM Pune, apprises us about the importance of this section. He tells us how the Analytical Skills fundamentally include areas like computing, visualization, articulation, and problem solving. Many of us, he says, don’t realize the fact that these skills cannot be taught in a classroom, they are learnt by facing and solving problems in real life.

He also adds that every successful manager must be conversant with analytical skills. In the future business scenario, it is very important to understand and work with quantitative information. This fundamentally makes analytical skills highly important in every aspect for every single job out there in the market, which future managers aspire to take up.
The SNAP Exam remains quite a powerful exam in the Symbiosis International University’s affiliated colleges, of course after the CAT Exam. A good score in the SNAP Test helps candidates secure a position into one of the top 15 Symbiosis B-schools across the country. Some of them are the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM),etc.
The SNAP 2016 exam will observe 4 sectional divisions. There will be 150 questions of 1 mark each. The total time to solve these 150 questions is 120 minutes i.e. 1 minute for each question. It is a paper-pen exam.
It is important for the candidates to know that the Logical Reasoning section carries equal amount of importance as the other 3 sections, namely Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and C6urrent Affairs. Candidates can attempt these sections in any order of their choice. He/she must score a minimum cut-off score in each of these sections to hold a place in the merit list.
A section-wise division of all the 4 sections is described in the below table. It draws a comparison between SNAP 2015 and SNAP 2016.
|Sections||No. of Questions (till 2015)||No. of Questions & Section-wise marks (in 2016)|
|Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency||40||40|
|Analytical & Logical Reasoning||60||30|
For the analytical and reasoning section, a candidate must put in equal and substantial amount of hardwork and time. Most of the candidates do not consider to practice it as much as they do for Quant and other section. We understand that the reasoning section does not have a fixed and defined syllabus and a systematic approach is difficult. But this does not mean that this section holds any less importance.
Since that CAT Exam has de-clubbed Logical Reasoning from the Verbal Ability section and it is unlikely that the candidates appearing for SNAP 2016 will not appear for CAT 2016, it is a good opportunity to utilize the rich LR preparation for SNAP 2016 also.
We believe that these logical/reasoning questions are more common sense logics and answering them shouldn’t be a difficult task. These questions need less efforts, allowing to you answer them with your instincts, unlike the other sections. The only mantra is to practice to make yourself perfect.
Do attempt a few SNAP Practice Papers to analyze the expected SNAP exam. You will also get used to the terminology and topics this way. Although the exact pattern of topics of this section cannot be judged in advance, but this doesn’t affect your practice sessions.
