Last Updated - December 06, 2016

SNAP 2016 is only 2 week away. SNAP 2016, the traditional paper-pen mode exam is the gateway to various management programmes in 13 Symbiosis B-schools affiliated to Symbiosis International University. The Multiple-Choice Questions based examination of 2 hours’ duration will be held on December 18, 2016 from 2PM to 4PM.

Its high time to buck up with the preparation. Candidates should now gear up for the last few days’ strategy to prepare and revise important topics. With the right and positive strategy for the exam it gets easier to tackle the difficult sections along with keeping a track of the time.

Last Minute Preparation Tips for SNAP

Work on your Concepts: It is important to have strong concepts to crack the SNAP 2016 successfully.

Be Dynamic: Do not be disturbed by past experiences of mock tests. Be confident but not over-confident.

Know your Strengths & Weaknesses: Understand your strong and weak areas and practice enough questions from each topic.

Analyze & Strategize: Practice and analyze mock tests and based on your performance devise your strategy to attempt questions on the D-day.

Section-wise Preparation Tips for SNAP

There will be 3 sections, with 40 questions of 1 mark each (QA & DI, General English and General Awareness). Logical Reasoning will be of 30 questions of 2 marks each.

Verbal Ability & Reasoning Comprehension

Reading Comprehension will be a part of General English Section. Total number of questions in this section will be 40. Reading comprehension is about a length of 500 words followed by 5-6 questions. To understand the passage, a regular reading practice is required to crack the same. Types of questions are like main idea of the passage, tone of the passage, explain the phrases & words, title of the passage and one or two questions on the information given in the passage.

6-8 questions on error corrections based on tenses, grammar and correct application of fundamentals. If these two parts are duly taken care of one third of Verbal Ability module is done.

In the next 2-week time error corrections in conditional sentences, passive voice, adjectives, reported speech, nouns, must be covered to score more in this section.

The questions on correct/incorrect sentences, spotting the error & fill in the blanks, etc. is an important part of Verbal Ability Section as, SNAP gives more weightage to correct contextual sentences.

Read good books & newspapers. As time is less, learn minimum of 20-30 words daily. Make use of dictionary like Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, etc.

Quantitative Interpretation & Data Sufficiency

SNAP exam has always had a heavy emphasis on Arithmetic questions. it covers topics like: Time and Distance, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Averages, Mixtures & Alligations, Percentages and Mensuration. It is therefore, advisable to work more on strong areas instead of starting some new concept.

Questions on Data Sufficiency, are fairly easy and calculation intensive. An attempt of 24-28 questions within 40 minutes should land you in the safe zone.

Since fast calculations can save time, practice with tables, squares, cubes and conversions. Develop comfort level with numbers.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning

In terms of marks, it constitutes 33 % part of SNAP. This is probably the most important section of the exam as the questions here carry 2 marks each. This section features questions from diverse areas. Organize the studies systematically by placing more focus on following topics:

Blood Relations – Family Tree, Seating Arrangement, Deductive or Inductive Argument, Binary Logic, Matching Puzzles, Venn Diagram, Constraint Based Arrangement, Clocks & Calendars, Syllogism, Team Formation, Assumptions & Statements, And Analogy.

Critical reasoning is essentially a test of your mind to think rationally. Practice as much as you can by using multiple puzzle books or practice across similar questions. One should target, an attempt of 20+ questions within 40 minutes.

General Awareness

It broadly covers questions from the 6 major areas i.e. Business, Top Officials of Big Companies, Major Corporate Events, Social Issues, History, Current Affairs, etc. This section decides the toppers and give you ranking. This is one area that gives grief to a number of students- the reason is the vastness of the SNAP General Awareness syllabus. Candidate should refer to the material backwards beginning from the first week of December 2016 as the test paper must have been prepared by that time.

However, it is time that one should split this section in following 3 parts –

  • Current affairs – National & International
  • Business & Economics
  • Conventional – Currency, Capital, Personalities, Inventions & Discoveries, Books, etc.

Do regular reading of newspapers, periodicals, journals and the stock of General Awareness question bank, will surely enhance your confidence of getting a 99 Percentile plus score & the way to crack SNAP exam.

Generally, GK section have low cutoff. So, one should attempt questions with certainty and hold back from guessing randomly. An attempt of 15-20 questions within 10 minutes should be targeted.
