NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Saurabh Swarnkar achieved his dream of grabbing a seat in NIT, Jalandhar. He Scored 93 percentile in JEE Main 2012 . Saurabh stresses on the importance of strengthning your basics that can go a long way in aiding your preparation. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering.
Saurabh enrolled in Bansal Classes, Kota for IIT- JEE Preparation. He finds the coaching institute as an interesting platform for testing your skills and developing your ability to think beyond classrooms.
In the interview that we had with him, Saurabh Swarnkar shares his thoughts and success mantra for JEE Main aspirants.
Q 1. What did you choose - Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?
I opted for offline mode of answering. You have the benefit that you can solve the problem just below the question.
Q 2. Did you qualify for JEE - Advanced?
No, I didn’t.
Q 3. Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?
Yeah they were better in giving you a platform to make you improve and improvise your problem solving skills and ability to think on a vast area. Their main concern was to broaden a mind of a student thats’ what a coaching institute does. I studies in bansal classes so there were many batches and that too each bach had a level of prepration according to the performances in the tests.
Q 4. How did you manage JEE Main Preparation along with your Class 12th exam?
Basically you need to strengthen your basics first, I have felt that coaching institutes give you a mild basic lessons they directy hit you like youre a fighter instead they should first teach how to tackle or how to prepare first.
So the main thing is anyways you are studying a part of your 12th exams so its a cup of tea for a person for his/her 12th exams if he is good in preparing for JEE.
Q 5. What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?
My strengths were Physics, Chemistry. I had a weak point in Mathematics so i practised my 11th and 12th ncert text books and gone through recent years of papers of JEE and questions of many books. To practice enough.
Q 6. What mock papers did you take?
Bansal classes provided us enough test materials and mock tests so there was no requirement of other mock tests. It was sufficient enough to test our knowledge and to observe how much deep or above the water we are. Check OutJEE Main Sample Papers
Q 7. Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?
Go through the basics; first be thorough with the ncert textbooks then join a crash course which are provided by many coaching classes and practise enough and have a smart mind to have a grip over things you learn coz its difficult to grasp over a short period of time.
Q 8. Physics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.
Learn the basics through ncert first get the concepts and then follow Irodov. Go through the study material and visit various websites if you have a doubt or consult your faculties. The main thing is focus on your concepts dont run for questions . First buildup yourself to hamdle the questions.
Q 9. Chemistry: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.
Chemistry is about how much you can remember as there are many terminologies and theorems and hypothesis's so grasp over them understand the concepts refer ncert textbooks and coaching material .
Solve as many problems you can solve as in terms of thermodynamics and organic chemistry.
Q 10. Mathematics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.
Better work on your problem solving skills and time management that will come by practice. Leans basics understand the methods and try to look for a pattern of questions coz you can make as many problems in mathematics from one unit of principle,develop a broad thinking and solve as many different types of questions.
Q 11. What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?
Practice and time management. Its not a easy job to clear jee and get into a good college. You’ve to compromise a lot of things to get what you want. So I’ve done what i felt and I am happy about it.
