What did you choose - Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?

I chose Offline mode.

Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story ?

Yes, I attended regular coaching classes until I appeared for my 12th board examination. After getting a good score in 12th, I realized that I have the potential to fulfill my dream of getting admission in a top institute of our country.

I appeared for many competitive exams, including PET and secured good score in all except for AIEEE. It was this time when I had chosen to drop a year and join a JEE coaching class. I joined Resonance Pvt Ltd, Kota for a course of around 8 months. There I was exposed to a national level competition and an aura of this competition. This helped me boost my confidence even more. I had prepared well and started off really well by being in top 15 of the entire Resonance Test Series competitors. Unfortunately, I suffered from chickenpox. Morally, I got down. But, I knew that if I let myself down, I would just waste a year of my life. Therefore, I started preparing after I recovered. Gradually, I started working hard and eventually secured a good rank in IIT JEE '13

How did you manage to prepare for JEE Main along with your Class 12th exam ?

I completed my 12th examination a year before I appeared for JEE Main 2017, therefore it was not an issue for me to handle both the examinations simultaneously.

What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?

My strong areas were concepts of Physics. I had always liked it, due to which I had developed an interest in the subject and therefore getting new problems in Physics to solve was always fun. I completed "Concepts of Physics" by H. C. Verma which helped me a lot and for reference, I referred to Arihant study material.

My weak point was to mug up different things in Chemistry. However, it was not a big deal because, in my coaching institute, we were taught concepts as well as fun tricks to learn the 'to-mug-up' facts.

What mock papers did you take?

I referred to Resonance Test Series. It was helpful as the level of difficulty was more or less on par with the original JEE MAINS. Also, it covered wide spectra of topics under Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

If you are starting off months before the exams, just go through the NCERT once. Especially for Chemistry, as I remember, most of the questions in JEE MAINS Chemistry paper are from NCERT itself.

For Physics, solve and learn from Arihant.

For Mathematics, complete NCERT and R.S. Agrawal.

Also, join test series and give exams regularly even if you didn't prepare for it. It will boost up your confidence and help you assess you better.

Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for Physics

For Physics, a thorough revision of concepts is necessary, for which one can refer to NCERT. However, that should not be it. One should complete the concepts of Physics by H. C. Verma. Also, Arihant's Physics books on various topics are highly recommended.

Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for Chemistry

Chemistry is one such subject which is either too simple or too difficult. If one has to score good marks, he can strictly abide by NCERT. However, going through other references like O. P. Tondon etc would not hurt anyone. Another advice- Try to learn tricks to learn facts and figures.

Mathematics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.

Maths is a subject that one can improve in only by practicing it. NCERT can work as a starter's tool. After NCERT, an aspirant should complete various other books like R. S. Agarwal and the test series which is offered by all the esteemed coaching institutes all over India.

What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college ?

I wish I was more health conscious to save myself from Chickenpox.
