JEE MAIN 2018 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
When it comes to juggling between CBSE Class 12th Boards & JEE Main, the struggle is real. However, the HRD Ministry of India tried to to reduce the pressure by coming up with two level JEE examinations (JEE Main & JEE Advanced). Despite implementing such JEE structure, one barely gets a gap of two weeks to prepare for JEE Main after writing boards in the month of March.
None of the two can be taken lightly, considering the fact that Boards are now more important than ever to match the cut off for appearing for the exam. Engineers now need 75% to give JEE Main 2017 while it is 65% for SC/ST.
If you talk about the JEE Main, they undoubtedly hold a great value for obvious reasons. Many states have joined hands with JEE Main system, by dismissing the state level exams and instead using JEE Main score to take admissions in the engineering colleges. So the big question is How to bridge the gap between JEE Main & Boards Preparation? Well, Collegedunia got some awesome tips for everyone who is stuck in this dilemma.
The Engineering aspirants need to have a balanced preparation for both, their 12th Board Exam as well as the JEE (Main) exam. Studying Hard will obviously give you your results, but studying smart will make it much easier for you to shine ahead of others. Studying smart starts with Synchronizing their studies well. The preparation can't be done overnight, it has to start well in time to cover the whole syllabus.
Chemistry is a subject full of Conversions, Numericals and a bit of theory. JEE Main chemistry is considered to be the highest scoring section in the examination. It requires less preparation comparatively than physics and maths. According to data analysis done by CBSE, students who cleared JEE Main scored the most in chemistry which resulted in securing good marks.
Jee Main Chemistry consists of concepts like Motion, Atom Dynamics, Mole Concept, Thermodynamics, Energy, Chemical Equilibrium. This means that you need to have a good understanding and learn the formulae. There are a few Chapters which you must learn first, to manage time between your study for JEE main and boards
The above-mentioned chapters hold the maximum value in JEE Main. You may have noticed that the important chapters come under Organic and Physical chemistry. NCERT XI and XII chemistry Textbooks, which are the core of JEE Main cover these topics. Now you may think, that NCERT doesn't help cover the topics in detail and that's true. Atkin’s Physical Chemistry, Modern Approach to Chemical Calculations by R.C. Mukherjee & Arihant’s Textbook of Organic Chemistry are the books you are looking for if you want to get in-depth study and practice some numericals. So one can easily integrate between the both without much of hassle as the private publications cover the basics as well.
Inorganic Chemistry being the easiest part of JEE chemistry. No calculations or formulae. Either you know it or you don't know it. Inorganic chemistry doesn't require much brainstorming and it holds 30% weight in JEE Main chemistry. The best part is that Inorganic chemistry which is covered in NCERT XI & XII is enough for JEE Main but Concise Inorganic Chemistry for JEE by J.D Lee is a good option if your looking for more detailed study material.
|XI & XII TextBooks||NCERT Publications|
|Concise Inorganic Chemistry for JEE||J.D Lee|
|Organic Chemistry||O.P Tondon|
|Organic Chemistry||Paula Bruice Yurkanis|
Physics is a subject full of laws and study of motion, velocity and tough numericals. It requires concentration and no topic can be taken for granted. In physics, there are few basic fundamentals which can be broken down to understanding and managing time for boards & JEE Main.
JEE Main Physics involves topics like elements of quantum mechanics, the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, magnetic fields. Chapters which hold the maximum weightage in the JEE Main physics section are:
To study these chapters one needs to study NCERT textbooks which won't take much time. Time-consuming will be when you move to books like Concepts of Physics Vol I and II by H.C. Verma and Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick and Walker which consists advanced in-depth study material, covering both the basic and high-level questions for you to practice. It is recommended to study Physics from the advanced books of private publications as they cover exactly what needs to be done. While the content in NCERT just covers the basics of the same topics which doesn't help to learn much for JEE Main 2017.
|XI & XII Books||NCERT Published|
|Concepts of Physics Vol I and II||H.C. Verma|
|Fundamentals of Physics||Halliday, Resnick and Walker|
|Problems in General Physics||I.E. Irodov|
Mathematics is all about numbers and how you play around with them in order to perform calculations and etc. Only those who practice it enough, master it. Concentration, Brainstorming possible solution methods and implementing formulae is the key to score marks in Mathematics. The JEE Main Mathematics section can be divided into 3 categories based on their weightage.
JEE Main Mathematics consists of topics such as Sequences of n numbers, Trigonometry, derivative, probability, function, geometry, and stuff. These topics mainly fall under these important chapters:
When it comes to math you can forget the NCERT books and let them rest in peace. Maths XI & XII by R.D. Sharma is all you need to cover 30% of the JEE Main Mathematics concepts. So if you study through that for maths you can score well in your boards and get good practice of JEE Main exam. Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight Plane, Trigonometry Part 1 by S.L. Loney and Problems in Calculus of One Variable by I.A. Maron are some other books which you definitely have to clear the concepts and practice of Algebra, Integrals and the rest of the syllabus.
|XI & XII books||R.D. Sharma|
|Trigonometry Part 1 & Coordinate Geometry||S.L. Loney|
|Problems in Calculus of One Variable||I.A. Maron|
|Higher Algebra||Hall and Knight|
