Important features of JEE MAIN Rank list

JEE Apex Board releases JEE main Rank list. The list is prepared on the basis of JEE Main marks and total marks in qualifying board exams. A candidate must consider following important points regarding JEE Main Merit list:

  • JEE Main Rank list consists of candidate's name, roll number, parents' name, category, state, percentile scores in qualifying examination.
  • The rank card also contains subject-wise scores of the aspirants, category wise All India Rank and qualifying examination normalized score.
  • Weightage given to JEE Main score is 60% and qualifying exam marks is 40%. The ration considered is 60:40
  • The applicants will be provided with one final chance to update their marks on JEE Main website before declaration of result.
  • Normalization of marks is done on the basis of JEE Main marks and normalized score in 10+2 or equivalent board exam
  • Based on this normalization, final score normalized score will be calculated and candidates will be placed in order of this score in JEE Main 2016 rank list
  • Choice filling and Seat allocation process is conducted by JoSAA from 2015 onwards.

JEE Main Score Card and Validity

The JEE Main score card consists of following details:

  1. Candidate’s Name
  2. Candidate’s Roll number
  3. Parents’ Name
  4. Category to which candidate belongs
  5. Candidate’s State
  6. Subject wise scores
  7. All India Rank (Category wise)
  8. Normalized score

JEE Main score card is usually valid for two years after JEE Main results are declared. Candidate can make use of the score card up to two years for attaining admission in his/her choice of institution.

JEE Main Counselling

A candidate can refer to the following points, in order to track the JEE Main Counselling procedure. JEE Main counselling and JEE Main Seat Allotment, serves as the basis for admission in top nothch engineering institutes. The admissions to the JEE Main Participating Institutes through JEE Main and JEE Advanced take place through three counselling process mentioned below and the JEE Main Seat Allotment Process.

  • JoSAA Counselling Process: JoSAA is now the only authority that grants admissions in IITs, ISM Dhanbad, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes)
  • CSAB NEUT Counselling: This counselling process is conducted by the CSAB Board for admissions to the institutes of the North Eastern States and the Union Territories.
  • CSAB SFTI Counselling: The admissions to self-financed technical institutes via JEE Main 2016 is conducted by this counselling process.

Important documents for JEE Main Seat Allotment Process

Applicants are required to produce the following documents at the time of JEE Main Document Verification. The original documents and certificates will be needed at the time of seat allocation. Any failure to bring any or all the documents mentioned will cancel the admission and the candidate will lose their right to claim the admission.

  • Candidates belonging to the reserved categories must bring their category certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • A character certificate issued by the high school must be produced.
  • JEE Main Admit Card and JEE Main Rank Card must be produced.
  • Copy of the Confirmation Page.
  • Certificates of Class 10th and Class 12th must be produced in original on the day of Document Verification.
  • Migration Certificate issued by the school.
  • Recent Photographs.
  • Candidates belonging to PwD Category must bring the original Medical certificate.
  • Attested copy of the Passport or any other equivalent identity card.

JEE Main Seat Allotment Process

After the declaration of results, counselling and JEE Main Seat allotment takes place. The aspirants who are selected through JEE Main Results will be provides with JEE Main rank card and the selected candidates will be eligible to take part in JEE 2016 counselling and seat allotment process.

JEE Seat Allocation process is generally based on the merit and the choices made by the candidates. If the candidate rejects the seat allotted once, he will not be allowed to participate in the further rounds of the counselling process. First three rounds of the seat allotment will be conducted by JoSAA. The fourth round which is a special round of counselling is conducted by CSAB.  The aspirants who are selected are required to follow the below mentioned steps to participate in the JEE Main Counselling:

Online Application

Candidates are required to visit the official website of JEE Main 2017. Click the link of JEE 2017 counselling and fill all the asked details like name, address, exam details, bank details, etc. The candidate must fill the correct details and review them before submitting. Candidates must pay the registration fee for the counselling process. The JEE 2017 Counselling fee can be paid via challan, debit card or credit card.

Choice filling

The choice filling format is based on candidates’ choice of requirement. The candidates must fill his/her preferences of the colleges. For that, the candidates must login to his/her account and mark options of colleges and courses to fill the preference. The choices should be made carefully and according to the merit. The choices will not be changes or altered in any manner once submitted. The candidates must duly submit the choices before the last date.

Seat Allotment and Document Verification:

The JEE Seat Allotment is done on the basis of the merit list, the preferences given by the candidates and reservation norms of the institute. Candidates will be able to participate in multiple rounds of counselling. If a seat is allotted to the candidate, he/she must report at the reporting center in order to verify the documents by the officials and reserve a seat. It must be noted that the candidate must pay the fee for the seat allotment in time. Any request of getting admitted or payment of the fee after the last date will not be entertained. At last of this step, a provisional admission letter will be issued.

Reporting at the Allotted Institute:

After the completion of above stated steps, Candidate need to report to the allotted institute with all the required documents. Failure in completing the above steps may land the candidate in trouble resulting in cancellation of admission.

About JEE Main 2016

JEE 2016 Results has been declared on June 12, 2016. The candidate who have been selected will be provided JEE 2016 Rank Card and JEE 2016 Score Card. The selected candidates will be able to participate in the JEE 2016 Counselling Process.
