NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
IIM Kozhikode recently released an official notification informing about its updated admission criteria for the academic session of 2017-19. The IIMK will be giving 75% weight to CAT 2016 and rest 25% is divided among the other factors like academic profile, Work experience, gender and academic diversity.
Like most of the IIMs, IIMK has also joined the league where they have modified their admission policy of PGP for the candidates. The CAT 2016 candidates are informed that they will have to score a minimum of 90 percentage and 80 sectional percentile to qualify for shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode along with a minimum of 60% marks in class 10th & 12th.
Currently, there are 19 IIMs across India working successfully while providing education of excellent level. To get a chance to study in any of the most sought after IIM would be like a dream come true for any of the candidate.
For the academic session of 2017-19, IIMK has adopted a new admission policy for the candidates who seek admission in the PGP programme offered by the same institution. IIMK will be giving 25% weight to the other factors and the distribution for the same is mentioned below:
Bachelor’s Degree marks: 7.5% Weightage
This section will hold a maximum weight of 7.5% on score percentage of 81+. The candidates should know that no weight will be given for a score of 60% or less marks in graduation.
Class 12 marks: 7.5% Weightage
The percentage of marks obtained in HSC/Class 12th would be the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage. A percentage of 81 or more in class 12th Marks will fetch the weightage of 7.5% and less than 60% marks will not be awarded with any weight at the first stage of shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode. Also, we inform you that no weightage would be considered for class 10th marks.
Work Experience: 5% Weightage
The candidates having a work experience between 22 to 24 months will carry a maximum weight of 5% on a scale of 100 in the shortlisting criteria of IIM Kozhikode. The CAT 2016 takers should know that, only paid and full-time managerial work experience, acquired after completing the Bachelor’s Degree will be counted as on January 31, 2017.
Note: Apprenticeship, Articleship, Internship etc., which form an integral part of a course of study, would not be treated as work experience.
Weight to gender Diversity
To ensure diversity, 5% weightage on a scale of 100 will be given for the reason of gender diversity or for academic discipline diversity related factors at the first stage of shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode.
Basically, your academic qualifications till date is given a total weight of 25 percentage.
CAT 2016 score: 75% weightage
The CAT 2016 Score that a candidate will obtain in the CAT Exam will be the basis on which the Merit List for PGP 2016-19 will be generated. On a scale of 100, IIM Kozhikode will award 75% weightage to CAT 2016 score in shortlisting the candidates for WAT & PI round for Flagship PGP 2017-19 batch.

Note:the candidates should know that their performance in CAT will be an important input in the admission process. Candidates should note that it is important for them give their best in each section of the test. This is because the scaled scores from the sections with equal weightages, of CAT 2016 will go into the computation of the CAT Index Score. And the CAT Index Score will carry a weight of 75%, as per the IIMK Admission criteria.

IIM Ahmedabad adopted ‘Academic Diversity’ that will prove to be a boon for the candidates coming from non-engineering background. Also, it will give 70% weightage to CAT 2016 scores and 30% score to academic profile for 1st stage shortlisting.
IIM Lucknow will award 60% weight to CAT 2016 scores; 20% and 5% weight to academic excellence and academic diversity respectively; 10% weight to work experience and 5% to gender diversity
