CAT 2017 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
IIM Kashipur is one of the most prestigious Institutions to offer Management studies in various fields. Students need to undergo rigorous admission procedure in order to get qualified from the Business School.
Indian Institute of Management offers majorly three post graduations courses, viz. Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP), Executive Post Graduate Program in Management (EPGPM), Executive Fellowship Program in Management (EFPM).
The cut off marks are the minimum marks or percentile that a candidate needs to score to pass the test. Cut off marks are declared by different affiliated Institutions which vary from college to college. Being one of the most prestigious management institutes, IIM has the highest cut off score for students in comparison to other management colleges.
IIM and other B-schools also have a category or section-wise cut off list which is announced just after the results are declared. However, the highest score is for the candidates who fall in the general category. Candidates must pass sectional as well as overall CAT cutoff scores or percentile to get shortlisted for next round of selection process for admissions.
Various factors that determine CAT cut-off score every year are given below:
As per previous year trends with Common Aptitude Test, if the difficulty level of CAT is high, the cut off might be low and vice versa. Usually, the cut off is over 99 percentiles in old IIMs and top business schools like FMS, University of Delhi, MDI Gurgaon and suchlike. However, if we evaluate the cut off range of new IIMs and other B-schools, it would range from 90 percentiles or above. On the other hand, Management colleges that belong to tier two to four can range from 80 to 50 percentiles. Candidates would be offered admissions as per their CAT score.
Expected cut off for the year 2018 by checking the data for the year 2017:
|Category||VARC||DI & LR||QA||Overall|
The best brains of our nation are able to get admission in this Institution only if they manage to qualify CAT, and later satisfy the eligibility criteria and cut off score set by IIM Kashipur authorities.
Every year, cut off vary as per the difficulty level of the question paper and number of candidates appearing for the examination. Candidate’s category is also a major factor. SC, ST, OBC and physically disabled candidates get privilege for the admissions as per their reservation policy. General candidate’s cut off usually go up to 90 percentiles.
Cut off list is released only once CAT results are declared. Below is the category wise, expected and tentative cut off for IIM Kashipur:
|Category||Quantitative Aptitude (Section – 1)||Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (Section- 2)||Verbal & Reading Comprehension (Section-3)||Total (Overall)|
IIM Kashipur admission authorities will decide the number of candidates who would appear for their written test and personal interview. However, if the actual number is less or more than expected number of candidates, the overall and section-wise minimum score would be reduced or increased to get the desired number of candidates.
