Sibinath Monikantan appeard for CAT in 2015 and secured 99.2 percentile. He then went on to get call from IM Lucknow, IIM Shillong and IIM Kozhikode. We contacted him for tips on preparation for CAT and below are the highlights of the conversation with him.

Q. In which year did you appear for CAT and what percentile did you score?
A. I appeared for CAT in 2015 and I scored 99.2 percentile.
Q. How many Mock GD-PI did you attend?
A. After CAT results were declared I focused on preparing for the GD-PI round. I attended a total of 5 GD-PI sessions, to get a feel of the selection procedure rounds at the IIMs. It helped me in understanding the nuances of GD & PI and eventually led to my selection at IIM Lucknow.

Q. Which are the institutes which offered you admission to their MBA programs and where did you take admission?
A. I was offered admission at IIM Lucknow, IIM Shillong, IIM Kozhikode. I selected IIM Lucknow as it is the best of the three and also one of the top ranked management institutes in the country.
Q. What was your mode of preparation?
A. I opted for Classroom coaching for CAT preparation.

Q. How did you manage CAT preparation schedule alongside graduation study or working hours?
A. I prepared strategically for CAT. I was working when I decided to appear for CAT 2015. So in order to prepare efficiently, I diligently devoted 2 hours every day from July till November after office hours for CAT preparation. I also appeared for one mock test every 3 days to keep a track of my performance.
