CAT Exam: Apply for IIM's with less than INR 100, CAT Registrations end on Sep 22

Last Updated - April 01, 2017

We have a good news to share! The CAT 2016 Registration can now be made in less than INR 100 to apply in one or all the Indian Institute of Management (IIM’s). Basically, the CAT 2016 Application Fee is of mere INR 85 per IIM, if you divide the total registration fee by number of IIM’s. The CAT Application Process began from August 8, 2016 and will run till September 22, 2016.

The CAT Registration Fee is of INR 1700/-. This will cover the application fee for all the 20 IIM’s, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and all the recently opened ones too.

In comparison with other exams such as XAT, GMAT & SNAP, they charge a registration and application fee for the exam. Along with the same, they also require a separate application for admission to the participating institutes to explore admission opportunity in the respective B-school.

CAT 2016: Apply to IIM’s without any additional fee

As we mentioned above, the other MBA/PGDM entrance exams require you to separately apply for the participating colleges. In case of the CAT test, the total fee enables you to apply for all the IIM’s in one go only. There is no need to apply for the different IIM’s separately. While applying, you will see a list of all 20 IIM’s on the CAT Application Form, along with their 48 programmes

Candidates can choose a few of these 48 mentioned programmes according to their preference and eligibility without an extra cost.

IIM Shortlisting Criteria

The Indian Institute of Management conducts the CAT Exam each year to admit students to its MBA course. Once the CAT Result is declared, the list of shortlisted candidates will be prepared. If your rank falls in the CAT Cutoff list, you will then be eligible for the GD/WAT/PI round. Each IIM publishes its own list of selected candidates. They have a separate selection criteria too. The dates of GD/WAT/PI are fixed in accordance of each IIM and the candidates are intimated accordingly.

The selection process will go through the below steps:

1. Shortlisting through CAT Cutoff- Candidates are selected on a minimum CAT percentile requirement.

2. Written Admission Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD)- Earlier, GD used to be conducted. Now, most if the IIM’s have replaced it with the WAT. Some of them only have the PI round. There is a different weightage for each section, and the final scores are calculated accordingly.

3. Personal Interview (PI)- The candidates who clear the GD/WAT round, are then called for the PI round.

We hope all of you get a seat of your preferred choice. Make sure all your details in the application form are true and correct. The CAT Exam Date is December 4, 2016 and the CAT Results will be declared in mid-January, 2017. Good luck and prepare well!
