NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Giving in to the demands of CAT aspirants, CAT exam convener added some changes in CAT Application Form. The major changes, which are modified by IIM Bangalore in CAT is the elimination of hidden age bar and adding Noida as an exam centre.
CAT applicants demanded these changes and has now been accepted by the authorities for the ease of candidates.
CAT which is also tagged as Common Admission Test acts as a doorway to various management courses in IIMs. This entrance is computer based exam, which is for M.B.A admissions in 19 IIM’S and over 150 B’ schools. CAT entrance exam is organized on rotational basis by 19 IIM’s. CAT 2016 is being organized IIM Bangalore.
Earlier, there was much speculation among CAT aspirants consisting of professors, retired bureaucrats, PSU executives that whether they are eligible to take up CAT exam, since they attain a bachelor's degree in the old pattern from the universities that used to give two years duration bachelor's degree. Until last year CAT registration only accepted marks for graduation degree in the traditional three years format. The candidates who completed their graduation before 1980's faced issues while applying for CAT. So, in order to provide relief in this regard, a change in graduation marks category has been introduced.
Now, the registration form asks for the commencement and completion of bachelor’s degree and provides category to fill-in marks as per the number of years taken to complete the graduation.
CAT aspirants had to face lot of problem in reaching Greater Noida (Suburb of Noida), which is one of the CAT Exam Centre. Noida was not on the exam centers list of CAT exam, since 2014. But, after the request of innumerable candidates to designate Noida as an exam centre in Delhi NCR, Prof. Rajendra K Bandi, faculty at IIM Bangalore accepted the demand and incorporated Noida as a designated test centre for the entrance examination.
Normally, CAT is conducted in the month of winters i.e. November-December, so it often gets difficult for the students/candidates to commute and each to the test centre. In order to eliminate this problem and keeping in mind the traveling problems faced by aspirants, IIM Bangalore gave a decision in favor of assigning Noida as a test center.
Aspirants also demanded the change in CAT Exam Pattern, but that demand didn’t get accepted. Whatsoever, the current changes made to CAT registration form are meant to provide relief to the candidates and certainly is in the correct direction of improvising CAT Application Process.
