Top B-schools Accepting CMAT Scores in India

CMAT stands for Common Management Admission Test. It is a National level computer based online test conducted every year for admission to management programs in AICTE approved B-Schools. This year CMAT will be conducted on January 28, 2017.

The CMAT 2017 result will be declared in February 2017. After the result declaration for CMAT, each participating institute releases its cut off and shortlists candidates for the selection rounds.  


CMAT Cut-off

The CMAT 2017 cut-off score for MBA program will be declared soon after the declaration of results. The cut-off list   furnishes the minimum possible score, which can be considered for selecting the candidates for subsequent selection modes - Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

 The cut-off for the top B-Schools is very high ranging generally in the bracket of 97-99 percentiles. As per analysis, the expected CMAT 2017 cut-off will not vary much from the cut-off trend of the last year.

The CMAT cut off score may vary yearly. Following are the few factors which primarily affect the cut-off every year.

  • The total number of students appearing for the CMAT exam.
  • The  level of  Difficulty of the question paper 
  • Number of participating institutes
  • Reservation system followed by the colleges
  • Cut Off  marks of previous years
  • Total  seats intake capacity
  • Marking scheme

On the basis of the cut off score, candidates are then called for the selection rounds by the respective institutes. The selection process may further comprise of three stages. The three stages of selection are illustrated below:

  1. Written Ability Test : The candidate shall be given one or more topics on which he/ she is required to write a brief essay in time duration 15 minutes to 45 minutes.
  2. Group Discussion: The second stage is a called GD in which 8-10 candidates are given a topic to discuss. This round is to access the dynamics of the candidate.
  3. Interview: This is the final round of selection in which candidate has to present him before a panel of 4-8 interviewees. This round is to test the candidate on their academic background, work experience, hobbies, interests etc.

The final admission of the candidate in the concerned B-school will be determined by the overall performance of the candidate in the subsequent selection rounds.
