Now we will discuss each section at individual level:-

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

This section was amalgam of percentages, mixture, Ratios, algebra based questions. Although questions were not so difficult but they were time consuming. The DI section was comparatively lengthy and required keen understanding of problem given. This section was a blend of permutations and Combinations, Algebra & Mensuration and Geometry, however Arithmetic and Algebra were dominating. Questions were although easy but speed of the candidate played a major role. An attempt of 16-17 was considered to be good score.

Logical Reasoning

This section comprised a mix of moderate to tough questions. Majority of questions were based on Analytical Reasoning, Blood Relations, Input/output, Visual Reasoning, True/ False statements.  One of the difficulties that students failed while attempting this section was the confusing language in which the questions were framed.

Language Comprehension

There were three to four Reading Comprehension passages of moderate length containing around 13-16 questions. Although the passages were little tricky in terms of comprehension but they were easy to understand and answer. A few questions on RC passages were inference and facts based. The questions were not like typical RC based questions instead they were based on application of one’s understanding of the passage. Rest of the questions were based on Grammar-Sentence Correction, Fill in the Blanks, Para Jumbles, Para Completion and Fact, Inference, Judgment. An attempt of about 18-20 questions would be considered good.

General Awareness

This section contained plenty of questions on Constitution, fiscal System , World affairs, Sports, Taxation and General Science etc. Majority of the questions were  asked from  static general knowledge. Around 4-5 questions were asked from current GK. If one has read newspapers on regular basis , he could have attempted all the questions. Besides the above mentioned areas the static GK questions were from Arts, politics, awards and culture. An attempt 16-19 questions from  this section was considered good.

Overall this session was a blend of moderate and tough questions. An attempt of 230+ is enough to clear the expected cut off. For CMAT just scoring well is not sufficient you have to prepare really well to secure a place in the merit list.
