CMAT 2016 Exam Pattern

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2016 exam is a computer based online exam scheduled on January 17, 2016. It can’t be taken in paper-pencil mode. It will be conducted only once a year on 3rd Sunday of January. There will be four sections in the exam and 25 questions in each section. The duration of exam will be 180 minutes. There will be negative marking in CMAT exam. For each correct answer there are 4 marks, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted. The CMAT 2016 Application process has been started on November 3, 2015 and it will be closed on December 12, 2015.

CMAT Exam Pattern

In previous year, CMAT was conducted twice a year. Each Candidate was eligible to appear in both the exams and the better of the two scores was used for the admission for each academic year.

In Computer Based Test, the candidate will read the questions on a computer screen and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. The CMAT Exam helps colleges to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE approved University and their Constituent Colleges & Affiliated Colleges.

The CMAT exam duration is 180 minutes, with no break during this time period. The Candidates could move back and forth between sections. This means that the sections are not timed individually, and the onus is on the students to manage timing between the sections, while ensuring that they show their competency in all the sections.

Negative Marking

There will be negative marking in CMAT exam. For each correct answer there are 4 marks, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

CMAT 2016 Trial Test:

CMAT trial test is available on the CMAT website for candidates to get familiarized with the functionality and navigation of the actual Computer Based test.

CMAT Trial test will be available from December 12, 2015 onwards for the candidates to have a feel of the online test and navigation functionality. The Applicants are advised to go through them carefully to familiarize themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation.

Overall, an attempt of about 70-72 questions with decent accuracy should fetch a good score. However, the cut-offs for good institutes are likely to remain high.
