JCECE Engineering 2016

The JCECE Engineering 2016 is going to be held on June 12, 2016 across various exam centers of Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board will conduct JCECE Engineering 2016 to offer admission to various UG level engineering courses in different Government and Private level colleges of Jharkhand. Engineering aspirants should appear for JCECE 2016 on June 12, 2016. Candidates seeking admission to engineering courses must appear for PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) group or PCMB group in JCECE 2016.


The application process for JCECE Engineering 2016 will start from April 16, 2016 and will end on May 16, 2016. The last date to submit the JCECE Application Fee is also May 16, 2016. The coureses offered under JCECE Engineering 2016 are B.E. and B. Tech. with specialization in different Engineering branches. Candidates in order to fulfill the JCECE Engineering Eligibility Criteria must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry. They should have secured a minimum total aggregate of 45%, and 40% if, candidates belong to reserved category.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for JCECE Engineering 2016, should go through the eligibility criteria laid down by the JCECE Board carefully before filling JCECE Application Form. The JCECE Eligibility Criteria for Engineering includes Age limit, Qualifying examination, Residential criteria and Physical Criteria. These criteria are explained below:

  • Residential Criteria: Candidates must be a citizen of India and a local/permanent resident of Jharkhand. A domicile certicate in the prescribed format is required to be submitted at the time of counselling, The certificate must be authorized by Sub Divisional Officer – (Civil) or Deputy Commissioner of Jharkhand State.
  • Qualifying Examination: Candidate are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsary subjects, and Chemistry as optional subject. They must have obtained a minimum total aggregate of 45%, and 40% if, candidates belong to reserved category.
  • Age Limit: JCECE Board has not prescribed any lower or upper age limit for admission to engineering courses through JCECE 2016.
  • Physical Criteria: There will be a Medical Check-up of all the candidates applying for admission by the JCECE Board or the participating institution. Only fit candidates as per the norms of medical board will be eligible for admission.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Reservation Criteria

The reservation criteria in JCECE 2016 would be only applicable for candidates who are local/permanent residents of Jharkhand. He/she is required to be a Permanent or Local Resident of Jharkhand as per the domicile certificate issued by the competent authority of Jharkhand Government. The Reservation criteria in JCECE 2016 is applicable on the basis of Caste or Disability. JCECE Reservation Criteria is discussed at length below:

JCECE 2016 Reservation on basis of Caste

JCECE Reservation Criteria is based on the latest reservation policies of Jharkhand Government. The various government and private colleges follow these reservation guidelines. The candidates have to submit a Caste Certificate in prescribed format issued by a competitive authority of Jharkhand State. The candidates belonging to the Backward Classes have to submit Caste Certificate in original during JCECE Counselling. Caste Certificate issued by another authority is not acceptable and the candidate will be considered under General Category.

JCECE 2016 Reservation on basis of Disability Criteria

The reservation for Engineering aspirants under Disability quota requires them to possess a minimum of 40% disability in low vision or hearing impairment or locomotors disability/ celebral palsy or all of them taken together. A person whose lower part of the body as well as the upper part of the body or both together with at least 40% partially incapable are also considered under disability candidates.


Service Man Quota (SMQ) in JCECE Engineering 2016

The service man quota in JCECE 2016 is provided only to notified personnels as per the gudelines in “A guide to Resettlement of Ex-Seviceman 1984”, Ministry of Defence and Directorate General Resettlement. It is only provided for Govt. Engineering Colleges. The preparation of Merit List in order of priority, under Service Man Quota is as follows:

  1. Widow/Wards of Defence Personnel killed in action.
  2. Wards of Serving Personnel or Ex-Servicemen disabled in action.
  3. Widow/Wards of Defence Personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to Military Service.
  4. Wards of Disabled Personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to Military Service.
  5. Wards of Ex-Servicemen and serving Defence Personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
  6. Wards of Ex-Servicemen.
  7. Wards of Serving Defence Personnel

Tution Fee Scheme (TFW) in JCECE Engineering 2016

The TFW scheme is only applicable for candidates applying for admission to different Engineering Institutes. Some of the key features for TFW scheme are as following:

  1. It is applicable for 5% seats in every approved institute as per the provisions of the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
  2. Seats are allotted to the candidates whose Total Annual Family Income is less than 4.5 Lac INR according to this provision.
  3. In order to avail the seats, the candidates have to submit an Income Certificate issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) and Dy. Commissioner of Jharkhand at the time of counselling.
  4. Seats available under this scheme are unreserved and will be allotted only by Merit-Cum-Choice.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Application Process

The JCECE Engineering Application Form is available in three different modes: The online application form available on the official website of JCECE Board, the ICR Application Form which is also available on the official website and finally, the OMR Application Form through designated Post Offices. Candidates are allowed to submit only one application form for JCECE 2016.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Application Fees

The JCECE Application Fee for candidates applying under PCM group is INR 1100/- while for candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the application fee is reduced to INR 550/-. The application fee for online applicants can be remitted through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. The offline applicants can pay the fee through Denad Draft or Bank Challan. The bank challan is attached with the ICR Application form and should be deposited to any branch of Union Bank of India. Demand Draft would be drawn in favor of “Controller of Examination, JCECEB”, payable at Ranchi.

Candidates applying under PCMB group have tosubmit INR 1200/- while for candidates from SC/ST category have to pay INR 650/-. The candidates purchasing the OMR Application Form from post offices, need to pay an additional fee of INR 100/- if they are opting for PCMB. This fee should be remitted through IPO/DD.


How to Apply For JCECE Engineering 2016

  1. Online

The Candidates can find the, Online Application for JCECE 2016 on the official website of JCECE Board. The candidates should have the following documents handy with them before applying for JCECE 2016 online.

  • Mark Sheets of Intermediate/10+2
  • Scanned Image of Photo
  • Scanned Image of Signature
  • Scanned Image of Left Hand Thumb Impression

Candidates applying for JCECE Engineering 2016 online, need not submit any hard copy of the application form to the board office. However, they should keep a few printouts of the same for future reference.

  1. ICR Application Form

The ICR Application Form is available in the “Downloads” section, located on the Home Page of JCECE Board’s Website. The filled-in ICR Application Form and the prescribed  Bank Challan/DD should be sent to the board.

Also remember to mention, “Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination-2016” in bold on the envelope containing Application form. The Application Form should reach the board’s office before the last date of submission. Applications received after the last date are liable to be rejected. 

  1. Purchasing the OMR Application Form through Post Office

Candidates can purchase the Application Form for JCECE Engineering 2016 from the designated post offices notied by the JCECE Board. The Application should reach the board’s office before the last date of submission else it will be liable to get rejected.  Candidates are advised to indicate, “Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination-2016” in bold on the envelope of Application form.

Details in JCECE Engineering 2016 Application Form

Candidates have to fill some important particulars while filling details in the JCECE Application Form. Some of these details include candidate’s name, gender, father’s name and few contact details including the e-mail id, mobile number and landline number (with STD code).

The category to which the candidate belongs must be clearly indicated in the application form. The following categories are taken into consideration for JCECE 2016:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • General (GEN)
  • Backward Classes-I (BC-I)

  4. Fee Payment Details: In case of Online form, Enter the 16 digit card number, Enter the three digit CVV number (indicated on the back of the card), The Year of expiration is mentioned in front of the card, The Name exactly as it appears on the card. In case of ICR Application Form, Demand draft details (Demand Draft Number, Demand Draft Amount, Demand Draft Date) or Bank Challan (Transaction ID, Application Fee, Amount, Deposit Date).

JCECE Engineering 2016 Admit Card

The candidates who have applied for JCECE Engineering 2016, are likely to receive the admit card by the final week of May-2016. The JCECE Admit Card is an important document that must be carried to the exam center. It will be also required at the later stages of the exam like counselling, admission process, etc.

Steps to download JCECE 2016 Admit Card

The candidates are advised to follow the steps mentioned below to easily download the JCECE Admit Card. It is mandatory for appearing in the JCECE Engineering 2016 examination.

  • Open the official website of the JCECE Board.
  • Search for the Admit Card Tab.
  • Choose the JCECE Examination.
  • Fill in the credentials required such as registration ID and date of birth in the fields provided.
  • Click on the “Submit” button after entering and verifying the requisite details.
  • The applicant must note that the admit card is in pdf format.
  • Candidate should download and take printout of admit card for all future reference.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Exam Pattern

JCECE 2016 is conducted through Pen and Paper Based examination. The questions will be based on the syllabus of Class 11th and 12th from CBSE. The JCECE Engineering 2016 would be conducted in both English and Hindi Medium. The candidates from PCM group will attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics while those applying for PCMB group should appear for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. 


All the sections has 50 Multiple Choice Questions with 4 options. Every answer would be awarded 1 mark each. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. The exam pattern is indicated below.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Result

The JCECE Engineering Result will be declared after evaluation of the answer sheet. The JCECE results would be displayed on the official website by the 3rd week of June. The steps followed to download or view the JCECE 2016 Result are mentioned below:

  • Enter the registration number and password
  • The result will appear on the screen
  • Download the Result and Take Printout of the Result for Future reference

JCECE Engineering 2016 Merit List

The JCECE Board prepares two Merit Lists namely, Combined Merit List and Category-Wise Result for all the candidates appearing in JCECE 2016. The list is prepared in the order of the merit secured by the candidates, and seats in institutes would be allotted on the basis of this list.

The Merit List for the candidates who appeared for the examination is prepared on the basis of the marks secured by the candidate in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).


Inter-se-merit of candidates for tie breaking

In case two or more candidates have secured the same score, then the JCECE Board determines a sequence of preference for Inter-se-merit of these candidates which is mentioned below. The tie break procedure for Engineering stream is indicated below.

  1. Applicants with higher scores in Mathematics in the examination are considered firstif tie exists then
  2. Applicants with higher scores in Physics in the examination are considered, if tie doesn’t break then
  3. Candidates older in age are considered, if still tie exists then
  4. As per English alphabetical order of the First Name is considered as final tie breaker.

JCECE Engineering 2016 Counselling Process

JCECE counselling for Engineering courses is likely to commence from 3rd week of June, 2016. The JCECE 2016 Counselling Fee can be remitted through a Challan or IPO.The Counselling Fee for General/ OBC (I and II) is INR 300 while the counselling fee for SC/ST Category candidates is INR 250. Eligible candidates should appear at the counselling center on the stipulated date and time. Verification of certificates and documents is done at the time of counselling and admission rounds only. In case, the candidate fails to produce the required document in original then he will be debarred from the JCECE counselling process.

The counselling procedure for JCECE Engineering 2016 would be conducted in two rounds explained below:

First Round of JCECE 2016 Counselling- The candidates would be selected on the basis of the merit rank obtained by them in the JCECE competitive exam. After verification of all the required original certificates/documents and complete background check about the identity of the candidate, they will be allowed to make selections for the Institute and Course/Stream on Merit-Cum-Choice as per their Merit Order.

Second Round of JCECE 2016 Counselling- In case there are vacant seats even after the First Round of Counselling, then the JCECE Board will decide to host the Second Round of Counselling. The rules and criteria are also similar to the First Round of Counselling.
