KCET 2018 Syllabus

Karnataka Common Entrance Exam for academic session 2018-19 is going to be conducted on April 18, 2018 (Biology & Mathematics) and April 19, 2018 (Physics & Chemistry). Candidates appearing for the exam are advised to carefully go through the KCET 2018 Exam Pattern for understanding the structure and scoring pattern of the test.

All the aspirants will have to prepare from the syllabus prescribed for the respective papers they are appearing for. Medical aspirants and those applying for Farm science degree course should go through the syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The Engineering aspirants should check out the syllabus for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

The syllabus for Karnataka CET is based on the syllabus recommended by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka for first and second year of Pre University Course/Certificate. Pre University College in Karnataka is equivalent to 10+2 or H.S.C. as prevalent in most of the education boards in India. The detail course syllabi for individual syllabus is provided below for reference of candidates. The preparation for KCET should focus upon the important topics and concepts.

KCET 2018 Math Syllabus

Candidate appearing for KCET should carefully go through the syllabus prescribed for Mathematics, Pre University College first and second year, Karnataka. Some of the chapters and topics are also covered in the prescribed syllabus of different boards.

The chapters with highest weightage in Mathematics, PUC first year are Trigonometric functions, Limits and Derivatives & Sequence and Series. In the Second year syllabus of Mathematics, Chapters with highest weightage are Integrals, Continuity and Differentiability & Determinants.

Candidates should carefully go through the previous year question papers in order to identify the recurring topics and questions that are asked in Mathematics paper of Karnataka Common Entrance Test. The individual chapters along with their weightage is provided in the table below.

KCET 2018 Physics Syllabus

Physics is an important paper for all the candidates who are applying for admission to various courses through Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2018. Candidates will have to prepare from the syllabus prescribed for both PUC first and second year. The Weightage among all the chapters is almost evenly distributed. Motion in Plane, Laws of motion, Work, Energy & Power and Waves are some of the crucial topics from Physics syllabi of PUC, first year.

KCET 2018 Chemistry Syllabus

Chemistry is another important paper for all the appearing candidates. The aspirants should go through the Chemistry syllabus prescribed for PUC first and second year, Karnataka. The chapters which carry highest weightage in the first year are States of Matter- Gases and Liquids, Equilibrium and Organic Chemistry – Some basic principles & Techniques.

In the second year PUC syllabus of Chemistry, some of the significant chapters are p-Block Elements, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics & d and f Block Elements. Candidates should focus on the important topics by identifying from the previous year question papers.

Candidates should pay equal attention to the syllabus of PUC first year and PUC second year to cover all the major topics and score well in KCET 2018 Chemistry paper. KCET 2018 Biology Syllabus

Medical aspirants and those applying for farm science courses are required to appear in KCET 2018 Biology paper. The syllabus for Biology paper is quite vast so candidates should break it into smaller units and give special attention to important chapters and topics. In the PUC first year syllabus of Biology, chapters with highest weightage are Cell- The Unit of Life, Animal Kingdom and Structural Organization in Animals.

The second year syllabus of PUC Biology is slightly more complex. Some of the crucial chapters in second year are Principle of Inheritance and Variation, Molecular Basis of Inheritance, Human Health and Diseases and Strategies for Enhancement of Food products. The previous year question paper for Biology will help students in identifying and preparing for key topics and recurring questions in the exam.
