Karnataka PGCET (KEA) 2017 Application Process

Karnataka PGCET 2017 (Karnataka Post GraduateCommon Entrance Examination) conducted for admissions into Post Graduate courses of colleges in Karnataka. The exam will be conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Karnataka PGCET application process will begin from May 19, 2017. The last date to apply for KPGCET is June 5, 2017.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for this exam will vary depending on the PG course you apply for. It is strongly advised to refer to the Karnataka PGCET 2017 Eligibility criteria before applying. Candidates must ensure they meet all the specified requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks in UG degree
  1. Part time MBA
  • Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks in UG degree
  • Work experience of minimum 3 years as on 31st July 2017
  1. MCA
  • Any UG degree with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or Computer Programming or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks
  1. Lateral Entry to 2nd year MCA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years in BCA, BSc (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks
  1. Full Time M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch
  • A valid GATE score.
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks in qualifying examination
  1. Part time M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch
  • A valid GATE score.
  • Aggregate minimum of 50% marks in qualifying examination
  • Work experience of minimum 3 years as on 31st July 2017
  1. Part Time M. Tech Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)
  • Regular faculty working in institutions in Karnataka state
  • B.E. / B. Tech (in relevant field) of VTU or any other recognized University / Institution
  • Minimum 50% aggregate in B.E / B. Tech
  • Experience of at least one academic year

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Instructions for Application Process

The application process for Karnataka PGCET 2017 will be conducted online. Candidates should regularly visit the official website for updates regarding the application procedure.

Some general guidelines to help the candidates navigate the entire process smoothly are given below.

  • Application process for this exam will be done “Online”.
  • The official Information Bulletin can be downloaded from the website.
  • The application form can be submitted online.
  • Candidates are advised to follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin strictly.
  • Applications of those candidates who do not comply with the instructions will be summarily rejected.
  • The following documents must be preserved carefully for future reference.
  1. At least three printouts of the submitted online Application.
  2. Proof of fee payment
  3. 2 to 3 copies of the Photograph that was scanned and uploaded as part of the Online Application.
  • Any contact numbers or e-mail address provided in the online application form should belong to the candidate.
  • Communication from KEA will be sent to these numbers / IDs only.
  • In case of non-receipt of latest information due to wrong information provided, the candidate / parents will be held responsible.
  • The online application is user friendly.
  • Candidates will need to download the blank form and consult their parents regarding the details to be filled.
  • Information required for each entry during form filling will be provided.
  • Most fields will have a set of choices from which a suitable one will have to be selected.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 How to Apply

There are two phases in which the Karnataka PGCET 2017 application form is to be filled. The first phase consists of registering and providing all form details, along with uploading the specified images. In the second phase, the candidate will need to read and agree to the declaration and then make payment of form fee.

Pre-requisites for form filling

  • An active and valid email ID
  • An active mobile phone number
  • Scanned image of latest Photograph in JPG format
  • Scanned image of Signature in JPG format
  • Scanned image of Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG format
  • Scanned image of Parent’s Signature in JPG format

Steps in Phase – I

  • On the official website -, click on “PGCET 2017 Online Application”.
  • Click on “New User? Click Here to Register” on the webpage that opens.
  • Enter all the required information in the registration form and submit.
  • After successful registration, an Application number and User ID will be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile phone number and email-id.
  • The same information will be displayed on the screen.
  • Enter the User ID and Password to log into the system.
  • After successful login, “Student information” will be displayed.
  • Provide the information being asked for and save them.
  • Enter your study details and click on “save and next” button.
  • Now, the scanned images of Photograph, candidate signature, candidate Left Hand Thumb Impression and Parent Signature will have to be uploaded.
  • After uploading, select “save and next” button.
  • Take printout of the draft and carefully verify the details.
  • Correct any erroneous fields, if needed, before agreeing to the declaration.

Steps in Phase – II

  • Take a printout of the Challan copy which is in triplicate.
  • Print out of the application form on A-4 Size sheet of paper.
  • Affix your recent Passport size Photograph, signature, Left Hand Thumb Impression on the space provided.
  • Obtain Principal seal and signature from the college where you have studied Final Year Diploma.
  • This copy will have to be produced during document verification along with the copy of the Challan (KEA copy).

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Application Fee

The online application fee will not be deemed complete unless the form fee is paid. After payment of fee, the candidate will be able to submit the application form.

The Karnataka PGCET application form fee varies according to the category of the candidate. The details are provided below:

Method of payment

The application form fee can be paid through offline method of fee payment only. A Bank Challan will be made available on the website. A printout of the Challan copy must be taken out in triplicate.

The application form fee can be paid in any branch of the specified banks. The bank copy of the Challan will be retained by the bank. The other two copies will be given back to the candidate.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Admit Card

The admit card will be made available on the official website. Candidates must download their hall tickets. Individual admit cards will not be sent to candidates by post.

The admit card is the primary document to be carried on the day of the exam. Candidates who fail to produce their hall tickets on exam day will not be granted admission. Hence, it is important to preserve the Karnataka PGCET Admit Card carefully.
