Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 is a state level entrance exam that will be conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). It can also be referred to as Polytechnic Entrance Competitive Examination (PECE) 2018. Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 will be conducted for admission into various government, non-government and PPP mode engineering diploma institutions in the state of Jharkhand, along with admission into engineering diploma courses at all branches of Jharkhand Government Tool Room and Training Centre, located in Ranchi and Dumka.

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Eligibility

Prior to commencement of online application process, it is necessary to check the eligibility criteria, which is primarily the minimum academic qualifications, residential and age threshold for candidates to appear for Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018, and subsequently gain admission into desired course. Following are the eligibility criteria for examination:

Academic Qualification

  • Candidate must have passed secondary/10th or equivalent examination with a minimum of 35% marks.
  • Candidates appearing for secondary/10th or equivalent examination are also eligible, subject to passing examination before commencement of Counselling process.

Residential Criteria

Candidates falling under either of the following categories are eligible to appear for entrance test:

  • Permanent resident of Jharkhand.
  • Ward of an employee of Central Government working in Jharkhand.
  • Ward of an employee of State Government or organizations operated/recognized by State Government.

Age Limit

  • There is no minimum or maximum age limit for examination.
  • However, candidates seeking admission into Mining Engineering must turn at least 17 years old on or before July 1, 2018.

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Application Form

Application form for Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 will have to be filled by candidates only through online mode. Following are the steps for successful completion of online application submission –

  • Fill details – Candidate Name, Father’s Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Category, Mobile No. and Email ID
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button
  • Registration ID will be generated for candidate

  • Fill Personal & Educational Details - Service Men's Quota (SMQ), Muslim Minority, Person with Disability, Nationality, Type of Resident of Jharkhand, Correspondence Address, two choices of Examination City, Annual Income, Aadhar No., Passed/appeared in 10th Class, Name of Board, Year of Passing, Roll no. and Percentage of Marks  
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button
  1. Upload Scanned Photograph, Signature and Thumb Impression
  • Upload scanned images of passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression
  • None of the images should be more than 50 KB
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ button after uploading images

Candidate is not required to send hard copies of any document to conducting authority. However, 3-4 print outs of completed application form must be taken by candidate for future references

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Admit card is of extreme significance to candidates appearing for entrance test. No candidate will be permitted entry into examination center without in possession of admit card. Admit card can be downloaded 4 days before date of examination from the official website of JCECEB. No hard copy of admit card will be sent to candidate through courier or post. Candidates can download Admit Card through following steps:

Exam Center

JCECEB will conduct the exam at various examination centers in 7 districts across Jharkhand.

  • PECE 2018 will be conducted at following districts – Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Dumka, Chaibasa and Bokaro
  • Candidates will be given the option to select two preferred locations of examination center
  • Allotment of exam center depends on complete discretion of conducting authority
  • Once allotted, candidate cannot request change in exam center
  • Candidate will have to appear for Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 at the allotted exam center only

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Exam Pattern

It is necessary for aspirants to understand Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Exam Pattern in order to prepare for test accordingly.

  • Examination duration will be 2 hours and 30 minutes
  • PECE 2018 will consist of 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • There will be 3 sections in question paper – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Answer Key

JCECEB is likely to release answer key for Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 after a week of successfully conducting examination. Answer key allows candidates to get an approximate idea of marks that they will score in entrance exam. Pdf file for answer key can be downloaded from JCECEB’s official website.

Merit List

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 merit list will be formulated on the basis of marks secured by candidates in entrance examination. JCECEB will release a combined merit list and also category-wise merit list. In case two or more candidates secure same marks, following steps will be used to dissolve tie-break:

  • First preference will be given to candidate with higher marks in Mathematics
  • If tie-break continues, preference will be given to candidate with higher marks in Physics
  • In case tie-break till persists, older candidate will be given preference
  • If tie-break does not get resolved by above methods, candidate’s whose name will come first in alphabetical order, will be given preference

Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 Counselling

JCECEB is likely to commence Counselling process for Jharkhand Polytechnic 2018 within a week of declaration of result.

  • Information regarding Counselling will be made available to candidates through primary newspapers of Jharkhand and also official JCECEB website
  • Usually three rounds of Counselling are conducted, but final decision on number of Counselling rounds depends on the number of seats that remain vacant after each Counselling round
  • Candidate receiving Counselling notification will have to submit a Challan through Post Office
  • Challan amount for candidates belonging to General and OBC category is INR 400, while female and SC/ST candidates will have to pay INR 250
  • Candidates will have to carry original and one photocopy of each of the following documents, when appearing for Counselling process:
  1. Admit card, mark sheet and passing certificate of Secondary/10th or equivalent examination
  2. Certificate of Residence issued by Subdivision Officer
  3. Category Certificate (if applicable)
  4. Income Certificate issued by Subdivision Officer
  5. Physical Handicap Certificate, along with full body photograph, issued by Civil Surgeon of District Hospital (if applicable)
