JEE MAIN EXAM CENTRES

JEE Main 2018 will be held across 104 cities in India and 9 international cities. In total, there are over 2000 test centres. In comparison to 131 JEE Main Exam Centres in 2016, CBSE reduced the number of exam cities to 113 last year. CBSE will conduct JEE Main April 2018.

  • Candidates can select their preferred exam centers while of filling JEE Main Application Form.
  • Registration for JEE Main 2018 can be done between December 1, 2017, until January 2, 2018.
  • Candidates should opt for JEE Main exam center depending on the mode of examination they want to choose- Online or Offline.
  • However, in some of the exam centre of JEE Main situated abroad, candidates have to appear in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
  • Do not forget to carry JEE Main Admit Card to the exam hall. It is expected to release in March 2018. The allotted test centre will be mentioned on your admit card.
  • CBSE reserves the final right to allocate exam centers.

 Latest Update on JEE Main 2018 Exam Centers

  • CBSE added 2 cities, Kota and Dhaka, as new JEE Main 2018 Exam Centers.
  • Various Cities from Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, and Odisha are removed as Exam Centers.
  • In Colombo, Kathmandu, and Singapore, Paper I of JEE will only be held in online mode. However, the Paper 2 of JEE Main will only be held in offline mode.

  • JEE Main will be conducted in both offline and online mode.
  • Although the number of exam centers in 2018  is lesser than that in 2016, CBSE has ensured that exam centers are located across all possible regions of India for the convenience of all applicants. 
  • While filling the application form for JEE Main 2018, candidates must keep in mind that not all centers will have the facility for both offline and online exam.
  • So, a candidate should fill their exam center preference carefully.

NOTE: 

  • In case of an increase in the number of students who have applied for test centers in Delhi, candidates can be allocated any NCR location like Greater Noida, Noida, Faridabad & Gurgaon.
  • You are advised to choose your test center with proper attention while filling JEE Main Application Form. Centers once chosen will not be changed under any situation.
  • In some exceptional cases, the decision of Executive Director will be final.
  • In case of any tech glitches or difficulty, candidates will be allocated test centers in a nearby test city.
  • In case number of examinees for a particular Computer Based Center is less than 50, then such candidates will appear for the exam on the last allotted day of the computer based examination in the same city.

How to Choose JEE Main Exam Center 2018?

  • Candidates have to choose the Exam Centers of JEE Main during registration.
  • The number of centers that one can fill in the application form depends on the mode of exam candidate is opting for.
  • In case one is opting for Pen and Paper Based mode, he can indicate preference for 4 exam centers.
  • For Computer Based (CBT) mode, candidates can put preference for only 1 center.
  • The choice of exam center will also depend on the state of eligibility code as well as medium of question paper mentioned by the candidate during registration.
  • The state of eligibility is basically the state from where the candidate has passed/appearing for class 10+2 exam or equivalent entrance exam or state mentioned in the passport in case of foreign applicant/OCI/PIO.
  • The option to provide preference for exam center is available in the first step of JEE Main 2018 Registration, while candidates are filling personal and academic qualification details .

JEE Main 2018 State Code of Eligibility

  • Since the state code of eligibility will decide the location of JEE Main 2018 Exam Center, applicants must fill the correct state code during registration. 
  • During the form filling the state from where class 12th has been qualified has to be entered under the State of Eligibility.
  • However, if the candidate has passed 10+2 from a state but appeared for improvement in another state then they must submit the code for the state from where they have qualified the exam.
  • Indian nationals, who qualified the examination from a foreign institute, shall submit the State of Eligibility that will be determined on the basis of permanent address in Indian, as mentioned in the Passport of the student.
  • NIOS students will have to select the State of Eligibility as the state where their study centre was located.
  • For the candidates of Nepal/Bhutan/Foreign/OCI, there is no State of Eligibility.

Do's and Don'ts at JEE Main 2018 Exam Centers

Candidates must abide by all the guidelines and instructions issued by CBSE, at the exam centers of JEE Main 2018. Failing to follow these guidelines can lead to the debarment of candidates from appearing in JEE Main.

Do’s at JEE Main 2018 Exam Center

  • Applicants must carry the Admit Card, Passport size Photograph and Post Card Size Photograph affixed on proforma
  • Remember to carry Admit Card as without it the candidate will not be allowed to appear in JEE Main 2017 exam
  • Please go through the sitting arrangement and note down your room number and other relevant information that will help you in locating your seat
  • Before taking your seat make sure that you check your seat. If you find things like paper or anything, inform the invigilator
  • Follow the instructions given by invigilator in exam hall
  • Carry a Black/ Blue ball pen (only for Offline/Pen and Paper Based Exam)

Don'ts at JEE Main 2018 Exam Center

  • Make sure you are not carrying any paper or electronic device/gadget (like calculator, mobile phone, digital watch, etc.) else it will be treated as the case of “Unfair Means” and your exams will be canceled
  • Avoid answering the question you are not sure about as for every wrong answer marked, because of negative marking. This will reduce your overall score, affect your JEE Main 2018 rank and your chances of getting into a college of your choice will also reduce.

Medium of Questions Papers Available at Exam Centers

  • JEE Main 2018 questions papers will be available in Hindi and English at most exam centers.
  • However, at few exam centers candidates can attempt in a regional language as well.
  • All such candidates are required to exercise the option of choosing the medium of question paper at the time of filling the application form.
