DMRC Recruitment 2017 Exam Pattern

DMRC Recruitment is a Computer Based exam scheduled on different dates for different posts. DMRC Recruitment Exam for the post of Assistant Manager (Operations, HR and Finance) and Maintainer was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances as explained by the conducting authority.

There are two papers in DMRC conducted on the same day in two different sessions. Paper 1 consists of 120 MCQ type questions and is a 90 minutes duration test. The questions asked are divided into three sections i.e. general awareness, aptitude and knowledge of discipline and trade. 

While Paper 2 is also an MCQ based test and is conducted for General English to judge the candidate’s knowledge of English Language. A total of 60 questions are asked that are to be completed in 45 minutes. Both the papers have the precision of negative marking. For every wrong marked choice (1/3) mark is deducted.

DMRC Recruitment Exam Highlights 

DMRC Recruitment exam is divided into 2 Papers i.e. Paper I and Paper 2. Both of them are of objective type. Paper I has General Awareness and Aptitude based questions to analyze the knowledge of candidates about the current affairs and reasoning abilities.

Paper 2 is also an MCQ based test and is conducted for General English to judge the candidate’s knowledge of English Language. There are a total of 60 questions which have to be solved in 45 minutes.

Each correct answer will carry 1 mark, while every wrong answer deducts 1/3rd of the marks allotted to the question. Given below is the table depicting the DMRC Recruitment Exam Patten Highlights -

No extra time will be given to the candidates appearing for the DMRC Recruitment 2017 exam. Candidates who score minimum qualifying marks in paper I and rank high on the DMRC merit list within the zone of consideration as decided by the DMRC, would only be evaluated for Paper II. The candidates who qualify the written test will be called for Group Discussion/Interview Test as the case may be at Delhi NCR.

Shifts in DMRC Exam

The wirtten exam for the post of Asstt Manager (HR, Operations and Finance), Maintainer, Jr. Engineer, Accountant Assistant and CRA will be conducted in different shifts on different dates. The duration of each shift is 2 hours 15 minutes for the post of AM, Jr. Engineer, Accountant Assistant and Maintainer while for the post of Maintainer each shift is of 1 hour 30 minutes. Practicing sample paper is the key to success. There is no shortcut to success, one need to work hard to taste the deliciousness of achievement. It is mandatory for the aspiring candidates to practice at least two sample papers daily in order to sustain the competition.

DMRC Recruitment Preparation Tips

It is very important for the candidates to prepare smartly and efficiently for DMRC 2017 Exam. Candidates should work on the areas which can yield them a fruitful result. Here are some tips that must be considered by the candidates seriously, while preparing for DMRC Recruitment exam.

  • Candidates must evaluate which areas they are strong at they should make themselves even stronger in those areas. It means if 10 questions will be asked from that topic, you should be able to answer all 10 (9 will be a bad score).
  • Candidate must have very good reading speed.
  • After getting a stronghold on concepts and basic questions, start learning shortcuts tricks. Candidates should memorize tables, squares, cubes and fractions for faster calculations.
  • Candidates must read English Newspaper and watch English News channel daily for their English Language preparation, it helps a lot.

  • This section of DMRC Recruitment Exam will include questions relating to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.
  • The majority of questions are designed to test the awareness of your surroundings and its implications in the society.
  • Read the most recent issues of the magazines. Focus on the topics like economy, politics, international affairs, etc.
  • Candidates can update themselves with latest happenings in the world through the internet and by using various Apps available on the play store, designed specially for general awareness.

General English Preparation Tips

  • The English Language is one such section where you need to work understanding of English grammar.
  • Candidate must develop the habit of reading newspapers and novels which would help them to increase their vocabulary and understanding at the same time.
  • To build your vocabulary and grammar stronger, complete the books like “Word Power Made Easy” and “Wren and Martin”.
  • Keep practicing Reading comprehension, Para Jumbles and Cloze Test paragraphs.
  • Practice at least 1.5 hours daily.
  • For Grammar, keep revising the rules and write them essentially from topics like Subject-Verb Agreement and Tenses.
  • Over the month, you would realize that constant reading practice has helped you to become better with English which has been considered as a nemesis for a long time by a lot of students.

Quantitative Aptitude Preparation Tips

  • Quantitative aptitude is one of the most time-consuming section.
  • Time is the major constraint of this section.
  • Attempt only those questions which take less time or attempt those questions that you know very well.
  • Data Interpretation is the most important part and should be your preference while preparing for the exam.
  • Learn shortcut tricks to save your time.
  • Focus on important topics only.
  • There is no need of covering all the topics but try to cover the max of it but with perfection.
  • Make sure to practice Sample papers as much as you can, it will help you in managing your time and will help you in remembering the tricks and formulae.

Reasoning Preparation Tips

  • Reasoning problems are logic based.
  • Candidate needs to use common sense and understanding of the subject. 
  • When you are preparing for Reasoning, don’t keep any time limit and solve questions at your own pace.
  • Once you are comfortable with the type of problems, start to improve your speed.
  • Concept building is an effort to improve your understanding and accuracy.
  • You should try to solve at least 30-50 questions on each topic.
  • Reasoning don’t require formulae, hence the only way to get accuracy in reasoning is Practice.
  • Practice will help you to take the lead, practice 40-45 questions on each topic. It will prevent you from killing your time during the examination.

  • Personal Interview
  • Medical Examination

JR. Engineer (Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical/ Civil): For this post the selection procedure is designed in three stages:

  • Written Test
  • Face-to-Face Interview
  • Medical Examination

Maintainer: For the post of Maintainer the selection procedure comprise of two steps only:

  • Written Test
  • Medical Examination
