CDS SSB 2017

CDS 1 2017 will be conducted on February 5, 2017. The CDS 1 2017 result is expected to be declared by May 2017. The selection process for CDS begin shortly after the declaration of CDS result. UPSC will reveal the cut offs for the CDS 2017 examination by June 2017. Candidates who clear the minimum required marks will be eligible to participate in the further stages of CDS 2017 test.

CDS 2017 selection process involves 4 steps-

  1. CDS 2017 Written Test
  2. Psychological Aptitude Test & Personal Interview
  3. Verification of the Candidate
  4. Medical Examination of the Selected Candidates

Selection Process for CDS 2017

CDS selection process majorly involves 4 steps- Written Examination, Personal Interview, Candidates’ Verification and Medical Examination of the Selected Candidates.

  1. CDS 2017 written test is the very 1st step of CDS 2017 selection procedure. Written exam consists of the 3 paper of 2 hours each. Candidates who are opting for OTA will have to attempt only English and General Knowledge. Candidates appearing for INA (Indian Naval Academy), IMA (Indian Maritime Academy) and IAA (Indian Air Force Academy) will have to clear all the 3 papers- English, GK and Elementary Mathematics.

The CDS 2017 written test is held twice a year. This will include MCQs type questions. For OTA, the exam will be of 200 marks while for IMA, INA, and IAA the exam will be of 300 marks.

  1. Psychological Aptitude Test & Personal Interview is the next level after clearing the written examination. This step is held to get shortlisted for the selection. The questions asked in PI are OLQ (Officer Level Qualities) based. Candidate has to show his strong desire to serve in the armed forces and to serve for the nation.

     

The personal interview is a two stage process which involves the conduction of the two tests introduced by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The candidates are sent for stage 1 on the first reporting day at selection centers. The candidates who qualify the stage 1 of the examination qualify for the stage 2. The candidates who fail to qualify the first stage are returned by the Selection Board.

Selected candidates are requested to report for SSB interview on the date intimated to them in their call up letters for the interview session.

Requests for postponing the interview will only be considered only for very genuine circumstances. It will be considered if it is convenient for which Army headquarters /Air Headquarter /Naval HQ will be the sole deciding authority. Such kinds of requests should be sent to the Selection Centre/SSB from where the call for SSB interview has been received.

Navy candidates can download their call up letters from the naval website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in or send email atofficer-navy"nic.in 3 weeks after the declaration of CDS 2017 results.

Note: In case a candidate does not get the interview call for SSB interview for IMA by the 4th week of August, 2017(tentatively), candidates should write to-

For similar query by the Navy/Air Force candidates, having first choice, should write to Naval HQ or Air HQ (in case of non-receipt of call by the 4th week of August, 2017).

  1. Candidate’s Verification is the 3rd step of CDS 2017 selection process. The verification step includes the document verification. Candidates who qualify the SSB interview will have to present their required set of original documents along with the 2 self-attested copies at SSC (Services Selection Center) after SSB interview. Given below is the list of documents that are to be carried at the time of selection process.

Original certificates will be returned after the verification. Certified true copies or Photostat copies of the certificates will not be accepted in any case.

  • Qualification Certificates
  • Proof of Identity (Pan Card, Aadhar Card, Voter ID etc.)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport Size Photographs
  • Category Certificate for the Reserved Category Candidates
  • Proof of Residence
  1. Medical Examination is the last but very important step. This step is held to verify that the selected aspirant is physically fit for the officer cadre of not. This verification is must. For final recruitment, you have to clear all the verification formalities.

Change in Communication Address

Selected candidates, who have changed their communication address as mentioned on the CDS 2017 Application Formare recommended to notify the changed address soon after the declaration of CDS 2017 result. Candidates have to notify at the following address along with the unstamped self-addressed envelope-

Failure to comply with this instruction will deprive the candidates of any claim to deliberation in the event of their not receiving the call letter for interview by the SSB.

Selection Process For Joining The Air Force Academy

There are 3 modes of entry in F(P) Course and they are- CDSE, NCC and Airmen. Candidates who have applied for joining Air Force Academy through more than one source will be tested and interviewed at the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSB).

Candidate who are not able to complete the Computer Pilot Selection System (CPSS) or Pilot Aptitude Battery Test as an NCC or Airmen, then the candidates will be called again for OLQ (Officer Like Qualities) testing for Army/ Navy/ OTA only, if it is found that he has applied through CDS 2017 Written Exam.

Detailing for Training- Candidates recommended by the AFSBs who are medically fit by appropriate medical establishments will be considered only on the basis of merit and availability of the vacancies.The approximate duration of training for Flying Branch (Pilots) at the Air Force Academy will be of 74 weeks.

Separate merit list will be prepared for Direct Entry candidates applying through UPSC. The merit list for Direct Entry Flying (Pilot) candidates is based on the combined marks secured by the candidates in the tests conducted by the UPSC and at the Air Force Selection Boards.

The merit list for NCC candidates is prepared on the basis of marks scored by them at AFSBs.


Selection Process For Joining The Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala 

Candidates who are selected for the training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) will be appointed as Cadets under the GSES (Graduate Cadet Special Entry Scheme) Course.  The Selection of the cadets would be based on the candidates’ qualifying in the CDS 2017 followed by the SSB interview and Medical Examination.

Meritorious candidates who are medically fit, will be appointed to the 45 vacancies according to the order of merit.  6 out of 45 vacancies are reserved for Naval NCC "C' Certificateholding candidates under the Special Entry Scheme of NCC.

Selection Process of Cadets from the National Cadet Corps 

The eligibility of the CDS aspirants, age-limits, and educational qualifications for the candidates applying under the Special Entry Scheme of NCC, are same as per the GSES candidates except for the below mentioned requirements:

  1. A NCC Cadet must have served for not less than 2 academic years in the Senior Division, Naval Wing of the National Cadet Corps, and must be in possession of Certificate "C" (Naval).  Those candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for Certificate "C" examination are also eligible to apply but their final selection will be depended only on producing the Certificate before the commencement of the course.
  2. The NCC Cadet must be in possession of a certificate of good conduct and character from his University or Principal of his College.  
  3. A NCC Cadet will not be eligible to apply for the same after 12 months of leaving the Senior Division, Naval Wing of the National Cadet Corps.
  4. In order to apply, a cadet must submit his application to his Officer Commanding, N.C.C Unit, Naval Wing, who will forward it through the Circle Commander concerned to the N.C.C. Directorate, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. The N.C.C. Directorate will forward the applications to the Chief of the Naval Staff.The applications should be submitted on the prescribed form.These forms will be made available at all the N.C.C. Units.
  5. Candidates who are considered prima faciesuitable would be required to appear before a Service Selection Board for the interview and other tests.
  6. Candidates to be finally selected should at least secure the minimum qualifying marks at the Services Selection Board.  Subject to this condition and to their being declared medically fit, successful candidates will be placed in the order of merit based on the total marks secured in the written examination and the Service Selection Board interview.  The final selection will be made in the order of merit up to the

Disqualification Criteria

  1. Candidates who were admitted at the Air Force Academy, Indian Military Academy, National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai but were removed due to objectionable behavior, will not be considered for getting into the Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy or for Short Service Commission in the Army.
  1. Candidates who have been withdrawn from the Indian Military Academy for the lack of Officer-Like Qualities (OLQ) will not be admitted to the Indian Military Academy.
  1. Candidates who have previously selected as Special Entry Naval Cadets but have withdrawn from the National Defence Academy or from the Naval Training Establishments for lacking in Officer-like qualities, will not be eligible for admission to the Indian Navy Academy.
  1. Candidates who have withdrawn from the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), NCC and Graduate course for lacking in Officer-like qualities will not be considered for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army.
